The (Un)expected Tears

A/N : I sincerely apologized >< I actually updated earlier but wattpad didn't publish it even though it wrote PUBLISH!! so here is a double update before my semester starts again ^^ seriously love you guys lots

Sehun looked through the books at the store while Kai went off listening to music while grooving. Kai's mother had gave them free vouchers she got from work. His father also drove them to the nearby bookstore as an apology for pointing his gun at Sehun and promised Kai to be home for dinner which explained his good mood. He was shifting from one shelf to another when he noticed something weird. He was always within the sight of a man. The same man. He turned left, he was there. Right, still there. Feeling a little paranoid, he went over to Kai who was doing small dance steps while listening to music. He tapped the boy on the shoulder who paused and removed the headphones.

"Found what you want?" Kai asked while smiling widely. Sehun paused for a moment. He didn't want to ruin his friend's mood but he didn't want to stay any longer.

"Yeah. I have. Um... Let's go eat... Lunch, shall we?" Sehun half lied but Kai didn't notice it so he just nodded and they made their way to the counter. Call Sehun paranoid or whatever but he got the shivers when the same man stood behind him while they were lining up.

"What's wrong? Is the store too cold?" Kai asked when he saw Sehun froze. Sehun let out a nervous chuckle.

"Yeah. That's why I want to hurry up and get some food."

"There there, Hun. Almost there and we can go grab lunch." Sehun smiled nervously as Kai paid for the books and CDs that they had taken. After paying, Sehun grabbed the books and dashed out with Kai who just happily followed. "You must be seriously hungry, huh!"

"Let's just get out from this place," Sehun hissed softly and made his way far from the bookstore. That was when Kai started to notice something was off.

"What's the matter? You usually don't rush this quickly." They slowed down once Sehun had taken several turns away.

"I must be paranoid or a wreck now but I... Could have sworn. That there was a guy who was following me. It was scary," Sehun panted as he slowed to a stop. The books were weighing him down so Kai took half the load away. He didn't had the chance earlier since Sehun just grabbed everything and left.

"Really? Why didn't you say so earlier?"

"Because he lined up right behind us when I called you to pay. That's so... I didn't know how to tell you except let's get out now." Kai frowned. He didn't like seeing Sehun so nervous and jumpy but he couldn't blame him after what he went through.

"Well I can only hope he didn't stalk us all the way here. Let's go grab lunch and head home before something else happens." Kai started walking but he stopped when he realized Sehun wasn't following. Instead he was holding his phone up with a pale terrified face.

Baekhyun steeled himself while pacing around his room. He promised Luhan he would talk to his dad. No more excuses. Today. The previous night, his dad had been smart about things and left with his business partners to talk about their 'future plans'. He exited his room and walked to his father's room after getting information from the butler. He knocked twice and hoped he would open the door. He gulped when the wooden door moved slowly and his dad emerged from behind it.

"Father. We really need to talk about Sehun," Baekhyun said through gritted teeth. His father looked at him for a moment before sighing.

"Come in. I know I've been ignoring you and that reminded me of what happened when you were younger.... I don't want that to repeat...." Baekhyun gulped again before entering the room and sitting down on the cushion. He took deep breaths as his father poured tea for him. "So... You really like Sehun?"

Baekhyun nodded. A little too fast that he felt light headed. His father pushed the tea towards him. Baekhyun felt himself shivering slightly. He really wanted this to work but he wasn't sure now if he could convince the stubborn man in front of him. He had felt more confident with Sehun being there the other day but now all his fears were just flatly shown.

"And does he like you back the same?"

Baekhyun pursed his lips. He felt his lower lip tremble so he chewed on it.

"I can't say the same. Honestly," was his final reply. His father nodded.

"Sehun is a little difficult to read right now. But I'm sure we can work something out. So we won't have grandchildren?" Baekhyun almost choked on his saliva.

"What? I- we- can adopt!" Baekhyun yelped in panic. He wasn't expecting his father to ask such a question. His father's lips broke into a smile then a soft laugh.

"That is true. Well your mother is the one who wanted grandchildren so that when the time comes for us to retire, she would have someone to play with at home. I... Just wanted to hold onto the thought of having a proper family. I'm sorry for being so ignorant about you all these times... Your hard times and even now."

Baekhyun stared at his father who lowered his head. He couldn't respond. His throat felt coarse and his cheeks felt warm with the tears that fell on their own. His father looked up and flinched seeing Baekhyun cry. Baekhyun let out a soft chuckle and brushed away his tears with his hands.

"I'm sorry I can't stop crying," Baekhyun whispered as he tried to stop the tears from flowing. His father handed him tissues.

"You don't have to apologize for my mistakes. I will allow you to date Sehun and I hope for us to be a better family than I can ever hope for."

"Yes!" Baekhyun cried out. He lunged over and hugged his father for the first time in his life. His father was surprised but slowly returned the hug awkwardly.

"Okay okay. Go get that boy back home," his father joked and patted Baekhyun on the back. He nodded and wiped away his remaining tears that finally decided to stop. He grinned and bowed to his father before leaving to grab his phone. His heart thumping in joy. His body trembled with sincere happiness. His lips up in a curve that he felt they would stay up forever.

It was a splendid day. That was missing only Sehun.
