The (Un)expected Day

School ended normally for Sehun that day apart from the constant stares he kept receiving. Baekhyun didn't find him at all and he was rather thankful. Maybe he did decide to stay away. Kai had managed to get a date with Kyungsoo after school that day so he had a stupid grin plastered all over his face the entire day. Sehun watched as his friend jumped to his beloved senior and hooked their hands together. Kyungsoo didn't seem to mind.

Sehun felt a little tug in his chest but ignored it and started walking. He put on his headphones and made his way to the park since he didn't feel like going home. He sat on the swing and started doing some homework while tapping his fingers to the music once in awhile. Time ticked by as he completed his work and he felt hunger distracting him so he packed his things and left to grab lunch at a nearby hawker stall.

He munched on his food as he made his way home. His phone vibrated on the way and he pulled it out with his free hand. It was a message from Kai and he opened it but he didn't read it since he reached his home. He tossed the empty food container into the dustbin and started unlocking his front door with his phone still in his hand. He opened it and silently closed it.

When he turned around, he saw his mother standing in front of him but what he wasn't expecting was the pain spreading all over his shoulder. He cried out when the knife was pulled out. He could feel the warm liquid trickling down and his phone slipped out from his grasp as he applied pressure to his wound.

"You... you will leave me just like him too!! I'll kill you now!" She yelled as she tackled him again. Sehun swerved to the right, dodging the knife by a few inches. He was about to pick up his phone when his mother turned and stabbed his leg. He yelled and tried to reach for his phone but his finger could only tapped on it. He felt the silver left the confines of his leg again and he groaned. He quickly pushed himself away but his mother grabbed his collar.

"Stop it, mum!!" He yelled and tried to grab her wrists but she swung the knife and it left an open wound on his hand. He winced and felt water dripping onto his shirt. He saw tears flowing from her anger filled eyes but he didn't have time to say or do anything when she plunged the knife right onto his stomach. He screamed in pain and felt his resolve to live weakening.

"Sehun?!" He heard a familiar voice called out but his mind couldn't register.

"H-elp," he heard himself saying but he could feel his conciousness threatening to slip away.

Don't involve Kai. His eyes widened when he could tell that it was Kai's voice. He looked at his phone but the screen was dark.

"I'll make sure you won't ever leave me. I'll leave scars so deep you need me here with you all the time... You won't leave me right, husband?" His mother was mumbling. Sehun gasped as he felt the blade sink into his skin again. His mother was definitely going crazy and had mistaken him for his father who hasn't come home in a few days.

"M-mom... I won't leave. I won't... I..." Sehun closed his eyes and endured the pain. For his mother. He was about to faint but the sudden weight lifted made his eyes flutter open again. A familiar face looked at him, eyes two pools of worry.

"L...Lay hyung? How...?"

Kai visited Sehun the next day and Kyungsoo was with him. Baekhyun was still in the room and refused to go home to rest despite the doctor's and Lay's advice but he was asleep beside Sehun on the bed. He was curled up under the blankets and Sehun didn't want to wake him up either.

"How are you?" Kai asked and pulled a chair over for Kyungsoo to sit before taking another for himself. Sehun just stared at his friend who had puffy red eyes.

"Did you cry?" Sehun asked and Kai bit his lower lip. Something he did when he got nervous or wants to hide something. Kyungsoo just patted Kai's back.

"I did. No way in hell I didn't. I was worried sick about you. I got a call and suddenly there was screaming and... and... I thought you died!!" Kai wailed while clutching Sehun's arm. He winced slightly but Kai released his hold before he did any permanent damage. He never knew Kai would have felt so worried.

"I'm fine. Still alive. Are you two... together now?" The moment Sehun asked, Kai's face turned into a tomato and so did Kyungsoo's. Kai whacked Sehun's arm again.

"Yah! You don't have to ask so bluntly. Kyungsoo hyung accepted my confession.... well... This is embarrassing," Kai chuckled but he seemed really happy so Sehun just smiled. Happy.

"How long before your recovery?" Kyungsoo spoke. He sounded worry but not as bad as Kai.

"The doctor said I can be out by next week. I heal faster than he expected especially with a stomach wound," Sehun replied and he jolted slightly when he felt something wriggling onto his lap.

"What's this?" Kai asked while poking the huge bulge beneath the blanket covering Sehun's legs and Baekhyun.

"Well... Uh... Baekhyun sunbae didn't want to leave and he fell asleep here," Sehun explained while removing the blanket to expose a sleeping Baekhyun who was currently curled up on Sehun's legs. Kyungsoo gasped and stood up but Kai held his hand.

"It's ok. He's asleep but I think we should leave now. Heal well and come back to school soon, alright? I miss seeing you beside me," Kai said and waved. Sehun waved too and they both left. He sighed, for once thinking how-

"Kai is nice," his thoughts were interrupted by Baekhyun's voice. He looked down and saw his baby faced senior looking up at him but bubbly eyes.

"You're awake?" He asked and his hand unconciously swiped away the hair covering Baekhyun's eyes.

"Just before they came in. I woke up. So they're dating,eh~ ," Baekhyun giggled and hugged Sehun lightly so that he doesn't press against his wounds. Sehun could feel his face getting warmer. Maybe having friends wasn't so bad.

Maybe.
