Chapter 16 [Eyes]

Sweat soaked Y/n's face as he struggled to hold off Ken, who was losing control and shrieking like a rabid animal.

"Jiji! Help me out here dammit!" Y/n shouted out, gritting his teeth as Ken's hold grew harder.

"Ken! Please, stop what you're doing!" Jiji runs to them, attempting to pry Ken away from Y/n's body but failing.

"ARRGHH!" Ken shouts, slapping Jiji's hands away, his motions shaky as if he has actually lost his mind.

"What is up with you, dumbass??" Staring at Ken in complete disbelief, Y/n rasped.

Ken refuses to respond and continues to lash out, flailing his arms and lashing out wildly.

"Alright that's enough outta you, nerd!" Y/n clicked his tongue and lunged toward Ken, unwilling to play the waiting game.

"HHRGGH!" Ken fought Y/n the moment he saw him, but Y/n took advantage of his rage by grabbing his forearm and judo slamming him with controlled force, attempting to disorient Ken rather than knock him out.

Then, Y/n held Ken's head in a headlock while also wrapping his arms around Ken's waist, locking them there.

"J-Jiji! Look for something that I can tie this idiot with! He's soaking me with sweat like crazy here!" Y/n shouted urgently, rising his voice for Jiji to hear.

"G-Got it!" Jiji nodded his head, frantically search around the room for anything useful.

GRAAAM!!

Without warning, everything around them began to quake. Jiji and Y/n's eyes widened in unison.

"Crap!" Jiji snatched Momo and leaped away, followed by Y/n, who was still holding Ken and could hardly move.

The Death Worm ripped through the wall and sank into the floor where they had previously stood. Its body slithers, emitting guttural grunts that echo into the abandoned house.

When Jiji spotted a mug, he proceeded to pick it up and threw it a few meters away. Once the mug hits the floor, the Death Worm dives on it, ripping apart the floor and leaving a gaping crater.

"I-It's reacting to sound.." Jiji whispered, keeping his voice low to remain undetected by the monster.

"Sshh!" Y/n swiftly covers Ken's mouth, preventing him from shouting and maintaining a solid grip on the occult boy.

GRRK!

Y/n felt a strong agony shoot through his palm, and Ken's teeth bit hard into his skin, causing him to jolt with pain.

"AH! KEN YOU SON OF A-!" Just as Y/n about to yell, he hushed himself by gritting his teeth, still enraged with Ken for biting his palm like a kid.

Then Jiji discovered something strange: the Death Worm doesn't even acknowledge them, as if it can't hear their voice.

"Wait a minute, it's not reacting to our voices.. Maybe it's only picking up the sounds vibrating around this house..!" Jiji remarked, his eyes widened at the revelation.

Ken's eyes are vicious as a tiger; he can't abide being restrained like this. He opens his mouth wide and bites onto Y/n's palm harder than before, prompting a painful scream from Y/n.

"AGH! For fuck's sake, stop biting me Ken! I'll kick the shit out of you!" Y/n threatened Ken while enduring the pain, shifting his arms over his neck and head to keep him from biting his skin.

"Don't get in my way! Please let me die!" Ken hissed, thrashing in Y/n's hands like a fish that had gotten out of water.

A small gasp left Jiji's lips, that last sentence Ken spoke struck a chord in him, triggered a memory he didn't want to recall—not a good one, but more dark, and sinister. Jiji recalls hearing the same sentence back then. He arrived home from school to find both of his parents dangling from the balcony, their necks tied by fabrics like a noose.
