"yeah, we got this"

The room was quiet. So silent in fact that Tallulah swore she could hear the rain pitter-pattering against the window frame outside.

Tommy sat on the edge of his bed, still as he stared silently at the floor.

Tallulah watched from the doorway, unsure if she should speak or leave Tommy to his thoughts. The silence weighed heavily on the air, filling the room with the tension of unspoken words.

Finally, she broke the silence.

"Tommy?"

The room was dim, curtains drawn—only slivers of light cutting through like warnings not to cross.

Tallulah sat gently on the edge of the mattress. “You feeling any better?”

No answer came.

But she knew Tommy was't.

“Ran’s finishing the meeting,” she said softly, glancing toward the door.

Tommy shifted slightly that said everything and nothing at once.

Tallulah took a breath. “I don’t know what happened… and you don’t have to tell me if you can’t.” Her voice dropped lower.

She reached out, placed a hand on Tommy’s shoulder—warmth meeting stillness—and left it there for a heartbeat too long before standing.

Tommy laid onto his back slowly… arm draping over his eyes like armor against light—or guilt—or memory—he wasn't sure which.

The door slowly opened up, Jack and Ran standing in the doorway.

Sunlight poured across clean hallways; voices hummed bright as birdsong filled sky-blue air with careless melody—the world continued while one boy stayed still waiting for the news.

  -----

Below his room stretched Academy grounds: agents in sleek suits moved like clockwork, trainees darted around, conversations snapped quick-fire with purpose.

Everyone knew where they belonged.
Matching ties, polished shoes, synchronized steps—one unit moving as one mind—with no soul out of place unless assigned there deliberately.

Tom nodded, pulling on his boots, standing abruptly.

“Yknow what,” Tom murmured ruffling his already tangled mess hair, "I don't even care"

They all stood there locked, sharing a moment of peace, before stepping away from Tom's room and towards the training field.

Ran exhaled slow steady almost practiced calmness.

Tom straightened his shoulders slightly as Tallulah rolled her shoulders.
Jack mimicked her, gaining a glare.

The training ground loomed ahead, a massive dome of steel and glass rising from the edge of the city like a fortress of progress.
Flags snapped in the wind—symbols of legacy, power, order. This wasn’t some abandoned warehouse with flickering lights and broken concrete.

This was real.

Tom stood at the entrance with Jack, Tallulah, and Ran, their breaths visible in the crisp, soft rain morning air.
They wore matching trainee suits—black with silver trim—their names stitched just above the heart.

Jack cracked his knuckles. “So… we showing tom how it's done?"

Ran adjusted his goggles, smirking at a confused Tom “don't worry, just copy us,"

Tom exhaled slowly, eyes fixed on the sliding doors as they opened with a soft *hiss*.
Inside endless rows of obstacle courses suspended mid-air; holographic enemies flickered into life along training lanes; gravity fields pulsed unpredictably across battle zones marked for advanced recruits.

A voice echoed over speakers:
“Trainees report to Sector Gamma for Team Integration Trial One.”

“That’s us,” Ran said.

They stepped forward—together—and immediately felt it: eyes on them. Not hostile… not kind either. Curious. Measuring.*

Whispers followed like shadows:

"That’s him, he's going to get us killed,"
"The one who was crying last training?"
"Surprised he's back,"

Tom kept his head down—but Jack didn’t.

He turned sharply and grinned wide at a cluster of elite cadets nearby. “What? Never seen friends before?”

Silence fell over that corner.

Tallulah smirked under her breath.“Still troublemaking?”

“Only when needed,” Jack whispered back proudly.

At Gamma Zone,* an holographic instructor materialized—a shimmering figure in military armor labeled **COMMANDER NOVA**."

"The objective," Nova announced,"is simple: infiltrate enemy command posts using only teamwork and ability synergy.  No solo runs, you fail if one falls behind..."

Holograms lit up showing mission parameters:* tunnels,* turrets,* motion-sensing traps,* shield barriers requiring dual activation…

Ran studied it instantly.“We need timing perfect—if Jack lifts that first barrier, I have time to hit the relay switch inside five seconds flat—or we’re locked out.”

“And I’ll cover sightlines,” Tallulah added, taping her scanner."Motion pulses every 8 seconds—we’ve got narrow windows."

Jack popped his neck.“And I bring chaos.” He winked at Tom.“You ready?"

Tom looked around confused—at their faces—all believing without hesitation he could do this—not because he was powerful or trained by legends…
but because he was *their friend*

He nodded once—stronger now than before—with fire returning to his voice:* "Let's go."
