The members entered the CEO’s office, still wearing their stage clothes, sweat not yet dry from the concert. The CEO sat at the long table, papers stacked neatly in front of him. His tone was calm but firm.
CEO: “First, congratulations on the successful show tonight. You gave your fans memories they will never forget. But now, it’s time for us to talk seriously about the future.”
Everyone exchanged uneasy glances.
CEO: “Your contracts are close to ending. We are offering renewals, but there is also a new project on the table  Alpha Drive One. Some of you may continue as part of this group. Some may focus on acting, solo music, or different paths. Nothing is decided yet, but you must think carefully. This decision shapes the rest of your careers.”The room grew quiet. The ticking of the clock on the wall sounded louder than usual.
Hanbin sat forward, his hands clasped. “It’s… a lot to process. We just finished a show. Talking about disbandment or renewal now… it hurts.”Hao, sitting beside him, nodded slowly. “Fans are already emotional. If they hear about this too soon… I don’t know if they can handle it.”Ricky exhaled, leaning back in his chair. “But if it means we can stay together, shouldn’t we consider it? ZB1 isn’t just a name  it’s us.”Jiwoong looked at the CEO directly. “We gave our youth, our energy, our hearts to this team. Don’t make us decide in one night. Give us time.” The CEO softened a little. “You will have time. But I need your answers soon. Think about your fans, your future, and yourselves.”
Matthew’s voice was small but firm. “What about our memories? They don’t disappear with a new contract, right?”Taerae, who had been quiet, strummed invisible strings on his knee nervously. “No matter what, our music… it stays.”Gyuvin spoke up, breaking the heavy air with a soft laugh. “We argued so much at the start, but now I can’t imagine not seeing you all every day.”
Yujin grinned, though his eyes were watery. “You’re all annoying, but you’re also my brothers. I’m not ready to say goodbye.” Gunwook clenched his fist lightly on the table. “We started as nine. We end as nine  no matter what the paper says.”
The CEO closed the file in front of him. “I see your hearts. That’s enough for tonight. Rest, clear your minds, and tomorrow… think carefully.”
After the CEO let them go, none of the boys wanted to just head home to their separate rooms. Instead, they climbed up to the rooftop of their dorm  their secret hangout spot since trainee days. The city stretched out around them, glowing with lights, but up here it was just nine of them, the cool breeze, and the endless sky.
Gyuvin was the first to break the silence, jumping up with both arms spread. “Yah! Everyone stop looking so serious. We survived debut, crazy rehearsals, Jiwoong hyung’s nagging, Hanbin’s training drills… and we’re still here! That’s something to laugh about.”Yujin chuckled, shaking his head. “Only you think being nagged is funny.”“Of course,” Gyuvin grinned, leaning closer. “Because when you get nagged, you make that little pouty face.” He pinched Yujin’s cheek, and everyone burst out laughing when Yujin smacked him lightly.Matthew giggled, hiding behind Jiwoong’s shoulder. “Remember when Ricky burned the ramen because he was watching dramas instead of the pot?”
Ricky groaned. “yah.Don’t expose me like that!”Taerae added with a smirk, “He still does that. He made eggs last week, but forgot the pan was on fire.”“Yah!” Ricky shoved Taerae, but then leaned against him anyway, hiding his red face. Taerae: owe kitty is mad  he just teasing him
Gunwook leaned back on his hands, laughing so hard his shoulders shook. “No, no, my favorite memory is Gyuvin locking himself out of the dorm with only socks on. He begged the security guard to let him back in.”
“Hyung! Don’t!” Gyuvin shouted, but couldn’t hold back his own laughter. “That was the coldest night of my life.”
Hanbin, who had been quiet, finally smiled warmly, his arm around Hao. “Even if we suffered, even if we fought… these are the things that make it worth it.”
Hao nodded, his voice soft but sincere. “I don’t want tonight to end. Being here with you all feels like home.”
For a moment, they all fell silent, looking out at the city lights. The wind was cool, carrying the faint sound of cars below, but on the rooftop, it was peaceful — their little world.
Jiwoong spoke, his tone calm but heartfelt. “Let’s promise. No matter where we go, no matter what name or project, we’ll always come back here — to us.”
Everyone nodded, hands stacked in the center, laughter mixing with the sincerity of their voices.
They stayed like that for hours — joking, teasing, singing softly when Taerae pulled out his guitar, and eating snacks they had grabbed on the way. The rooftop turned into their memory book, every laugh another page, every glance another story to keep. When it grew late, the couples started drifting naturally  Jiwoong pulling Matthew up, Hanbin brushing Hao’s hair gently, Gyuvin tugging Yujin’s hand, and Taerae standing with Ricky clinging to him. Gunwook stretched out on the rooftop, smiling at the stars, happy just to watch his brothers find comfort in each other.
