“Please Adam! Just take me instead…I-I’m the-”
“Kate!” Kevin hissed. Curiosity came off of Adam as he looked at me.
“You’re what?” he asked.
“I’m the white rabbit,” I said. I could feel he wasn’t sure if he should believe me or not.
“How about I let you and Kevin live, in exchange for me turning you into a vampire? I’ll be drinking your blood as I turn you, and when you’re turned, no one will be able to live forever by drinking your blood.”
“How come?” I asked.
“Well, when you become a vampire, it’s as if the devil’s in your blood. And being as the white rabbit, it’s like your blood is…holy, in a way. And the venom that enters your blood destroys it,” Adam told me.
I nodded and yanked my arm away from the guard.
“Then, turn me.”
Kevin shook his head. “Kate, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life, trust me.”
“No Kevin, I won’t, because I’m doing it to save you,” I said.
“Aw, looks like your girlfriend really likes you Kevin,” Adam teased.
“Shut up,” Kevin said through clenched teeth. I walked over to Adam.
“Okay, let’s get this over with,” I said. He smiled and got in front of me. His cold fingers touched my neck and he leaned in.
I closed my eyes in fear. I could just imagine how much it would hurt.
“I’ll make it quick,” he whispered into my ear. His breath sent chills down my spine. It reminded me of the first time I met a vampire.
“This will only heart a little,” I remember him saying. But Kevin saved me that time. And this time, I’m actually letting myself be turned. I would do anything for Kevin.
“Agh!”
For a second, I thought it was me, but when I opened my eyes I saw Kevin’s guards attacking the two guys that Adam had brought.
Adam was looking at them kill his friends. He ran to them and tried to stop the guards from hurting them more.
“Kate, come on!” I heard Kevin say. I turned around and he grabbed my hand.
“We have to get out of here!” I told me. Kevin and I started running and stopped once we were in front of a blue car.
“There’s another car for the guards to drive in, so we’ll take this one,” he told me. I got in the passenger’s seat as Kevin got in.
“Why did you have to bring two cars?” I asked.
“Cause there wasn’t enough room for them in this car,” he said. I felt like an idiot for not knowing that.
Kevin started the car and started driving fast. I didn’t know what to say. ‘I love you Kevin and I couldn’t imagine how my life would be without you?’ As if I would ever tell him that.
Then, I remembered something. Kevin has a girlfriend. Why would he save me when he doesn’t even love me?
“You were about to kill yourself for me…why?” I asked. Kevin glanced at me.
“What do you mean ‘why’? Why shouldn’t I have?” he said.
“Because you have a girlfriend!” I blurted out.
Uh-oh.
“What?” Waves of confusion came off him.
“C-Chris told me you had a girlfriend,” I said. Kevin mumbled something I couldn’t hear.
“Kate, I don’t have a girlfriend. The only thing close to a girlfriend is this girl who my dad wants me to marry,” he told me.
“But at the ball, you where talking with a really pretty girl.”
“That’s because I had promised my dad I would give her a chance and be her date to the ball. But that was before Chris had asked you to come, if I knew you were going I never would have agreed to be her date,” he told me.
“Why not?” He gave off a nervous wave.
“B-Because I….I, um, didn’t want you to be alone or anything.”
So, he just didn’t want me to be alone, that’s it. I guess he really doesn’t like me.
As soon as the car stopped I opened the door and ran inside. I could hear Kevin’s footsteps running behind me as I opened the bedroom door.
“Ka-”
I slammed the door right when he was about to come in.
“Kate, what’s wrong? What did I do?” he asked.
What did he do?
“Nothing! You didn’t do anything! Just-Just leave me alone!”
I leaned my back against the door.
“Kate,” his voice gently, “Please, what did I say to make you mad?”
“It’s what you didn’t say!” I blurted out.
“What do you mean?”
Oh god, why did I have to say that?
“Nothing, I just…don’t want to talk to you right now.” He sighed and I heard footsteps leaving.
Tears flowed out my eyes.
*KEVIN’S POV*
I heard Kate crying as I went to look for Nick. Maybe he could help her.
“Have you seen Nick?” I asked a servant walking by.
“I think he’s in the kitchen.” I nodded and ran to there.
“Kevin! Did you get Kate?” Nick asked as soon as I came through the doors.
I nodded. “Yeah, but she’s mad at me for some reason. She said it was because of something I didn’t say.”
“What did you guys talk about before she got mad?” he asked.
“Just about how I don’t actually have a girlfriend, and then she asked me why I would rather not be on a date and be with her instead.”
“And you said…” he trailed off.
“That I wouldn’t want her to be alone and left out.” Nick sighed and shook his head.
“How did you not get the hint?”
“What the heck are you talking about?” I asked.
“Never mind, just, where is she.”
“In her room.”
Nick brushed past me and went to her room. I fallowed behind him.
“Kate, open up, it’s me Nick,” he said into the door. There was silence for a minute, but then the door creaked open slightly. I quickly hid before she could see me.
“Kate, your eyes are all red and swollen, what happened?” Nick asked her. I could hear her choke out a few more fears.
“I-I can’t take… it anymore Nick. I…I love-” she managed to say between tears.
“It’s okay Kate, I know you must think he’s an ass right now, but trust me, he’s just having a brain fart. You should just tell him. I’m sure he would tell you he does too,” Nick comforted her.
What were they talking about? And who?
Post a question if you have one for one of the charactors!!!!!
