Chapter 5

Hartley's POV

I got up about 10:30. I went to take a shower. I just stood there for a minute letting the warm water run down. Then I grabbed the shampoo and conditioner and washed my hair.

I got out and heard someone in the kitchen I quickly got dressed. I walked in the kitchen a can of pepper spray in my hand. I waked in the kitchen. to find my mother searching through the cabinets for food. She found what she wanted, which was a granola bar. I breathed a sigh, she turned around and smiled at me. My mom was just like me except her eyes were light brown I'm stead of gray. My mom was a journalist. She wrote story from all around the world. Which means she's never around. That's why I was wondering why she was home right now. I must have had a confused look on my face, because she answered my question. "I came home for a break for 5 days.""Oh" I said. I looked at the clock to see it was 11:00. Niall was going to be here in an hour! I was ready already so I decided to talk to my mom for awhile and get some breakfast, a bowl of some cereal like always. She asked how everything was going in school. Which was out for spring break. She asked about how Keri was. Keri was like a second daughter to her since we first met. I asked her about, India which she just came back from. Then she asked "so how are you and Austin?" I looked down at my hands as my smile faded quickly and mumbled "he cheated on me so I dumped him, but I met Niall Horan. He's really nice, but he's just a friend." She smiled and chuckled saying "sure you guys are 'just friends'". I rolled my eyes at her when I heard the door bell ring I jumped up excitedly. I opened the door to find someone but it wasn't Niall...

"Liam?" I said confused at why he was here.

"Hey Hartley, Niall sent me to get you he said something about change of plans and since I was going out with Kristina, I thought maybe we could all hang out." He replied

"Sure" I said grabbing my jacket and was about to close the door when my mom came out.

"Is this Niall?" She asked

Before I could manage to get a word out Liam said"no I'm Liam Niall's friend from One Direction."

"Oh One Direction? Hartley you never mentioned he was in One Direction"

I walked away before my mom could say anymore.

Niall's POV

I was having Liam pick up Hartley so I could set up at the park with Kristina and Liam. Liam thought if Hartley saw other couples together maybe she might realize she can trust me enough to date me. I wouldn't break her heart. Hartley just doesn't know that I wouldn't break her heart and Liam thought this would be the best way to let her know. I was just setting the basket down when Kristina and Liam were walking hand in hand, Hartley walking beside Kristina talking and laughing. When they reached where I was I gave Liam and Kristina a hug and save the best for last, Hartley smiled and hugged me tightly. She pulled away first. Then we headed over to the blanket Kristina sat by Liam like always and Hartley sat by me. Liam whispered something in Kristina's ear sending them both into fits of laughter. I looked at Hartley. Her shorts and t shirt fit her perfectly. Her laugh was adorable. She turned to me and laughed and asked"what?" I was about to answer her question when something hit me in the back of the head.
