Chapter sixteen

"We're here." I said as we pulled up to the Bickam beach.

"Where does it say now?" Daniel asked trying to understand the map.

"It's trail continues in...the water? What? This doesn't make sense."

He took the map from me and held it in the air. Then he brought it back down.

"What are you waiting for then? Let's take a swim. " he said grabbing my hand and running into the sand towards the water.

"Daniel! Let go of my hand!" I yelled trying to release his grip which was surprisingly tight.

By the time I got him to let go, our feet were covered in sand and water.

"Check the map." He said.

"It's pointing to the right, deeper in the water." I said.

He started walking into the water until he was knee deep.

"Come on!" He yelled.

"I can't...I can't swim." I sighed.

He walked back over to me.

"Maybe you don't have to swim. If it gets that deep I'll carry you. Promise." He said and he took my hand and we started walking.

We were about waist deep in the water. Well...Daniel was and I was like breast deep.

"Check the map." He said.

We stopped and I looked at the map.

"Wait...it says right here. It wants us to go underwater...hell nah I finally got a good flexi rod set in my hair and I'm not getting it ruined by salt water." I said handing the map to Daniel.

"Then I'll just go." He said giving it back to me.

" I'll go under first and hold onto your legs so we don't get separated like last time. I'll come up and tell you if I see anything." He said.

"Alright. Stay safe." I said and he held onto my legs and went under water.

"Mmummhmmshdvm!" I heard him yell from under the water.

"Daniel! Are you okay?! I'm coming hold on!" I yelled. I tied up my hair and went under.

"Daniel!" I yelled...under...water...

Wait a minute... I just yelled under water...how am I not dying?

"Maddie! You came. I didn't think that would work." I heard Daniel laugh as he swam towards me...under...water...

"What's going on? Why can we talk? Why am I not sinking? Wait...am I already dead?! I'm too young! I just wanna make it to heaven!"

"Maddie calm down. You're not dead. This is the route to the place we're going to find Noran. It's like regular land just...wet." he said.

"Come on. I have to show you something. " he took my hand and swam down to the ground of the water.

Then we started walking normally. There wasn't even any water resistance. I could breath in and out without dying.

"This is weird." Is all I could say.

We followed the map until we reached an opening. It was triangular in shape. Kind of like two large stones leaned against each other.

"Its says to go through here." He said.

So we walked through it.
