After our slow dance, the remaining songs were faster, so I danced with my friends.
The night was over, we hugged Daniel and his family and Kevin before we left. Devin was in the bathroom but I guessed it would be kinda awkward to wait for him to come out. So I left without saying goodbye.
"Hey Maddie, could you help me carry these things to my car? The boys are handling the heavier things, but we still need some help." Mama Nicole said as she and Momma Debb carried the decorations to the car.
"Oh yea sure. Could you give me a ride home though? My ride has to leave right now." I asked, making sure I had a way home.
"Yes ofcourse!" She said.
I told Noran's mom that I was staying to help and would get a ride before I began helping.
"Text me when you get home!" Vanessa yelled as they drive off.
"I will!"
I turned around and began walking back inside with my eyes focused on my shoes. I should take these shoes off before they give me blind eye.
I took off my shoes and rested them next to the purse I brought. I began cleaning up barefoot.
As I was reaching over to pick something off the far end of the table, a pair of Nike sandals were dropped next to my feet. They were Devin's.
"Would you rather work barefoot or in your enemy's shoes?" He joked.
I picked them and looked up at him.
"Thanks," I laughed. "You're not my enemy. At least...not anymore."
"Well may I?"
"May you what?" I asked confused.
He held out his hands for me to give him the shoes. I guess he changed his mind.
He took the shoes from me and guided me to a chair behind me and sat me down. He picked up my feet and put the slippers on them. Thank god I'm sitting cause this is making my knees weak.
"Not a perfect fit but it should do." He smiled as he helped me off the chair.
I giggled, "thankyou." I slightly turned around to hide the blush on my face. For my skin tone I sure do blush a lot.
"Let's get to work then. I'll be over there helping Daniel and Kev. If you finish early, don't leave before saying bye this time." He smirked.
"I don't think I could even if I wanted to. Daniels mom is taking me home. So in going with you guys." I said with a slight grin.
"I don't know if there'll be enough space for you. You may have to sit n my lap." He said looking up and down at me while subtly biting his lip.
"Shut up!" I laughed while pushing him away.
"Nah for real though. We red to start working, I have homework to finish. By the way, did you do Current events homework?" He asked.
"Yea it was kind of hard but I did it yesterday. Do...you need help...with it? Cause I-I can help...you" I stuttered.
"Ayye thanks. Meet me at Daniels house tomorrow at 5. He needs help too." He said.
"Sounds good." I said beginning to walk away.
I low key wanted to be alone with him, but it's for the best if we aren't alone yet. I don't want to be hurt again.

About half an hour later, we finished packing and cleaning everything up. We headed to the car that was I fact small, so they had to figure out how I would hold."So there's me, Debb, Kev, Dan, Dev and you. I think you're skinny enough to fit Maddie. If you get uncomfortable, just sit on Dev." Mama Nicole said and winked at me.
"Too bad Shana left early, Maddie and Dev could've went with her." Daniel said.
"It's like she was destined to come with us." Kevin joked.
"What ever." I laughed as we all hopped in the car.
I was squished between Dev and Daniel. It wasn't as awkward as I thought considering Devin fell asleep on my shoulder. It was cute and uncomfortable. Especially since Daniel kept whispering in my ear to "kiss him."
"This is why you got a girl pregnant. You're a creep!" I whispered to him loudly, trying not to wake up Devin.
I'd rather him be knocked out on me than awkwardly asking for my forgiveness.
"I really want to know though...do you really not forgive him yet?" Daniel asked.
Kevin leaned over Devin because he wanted to know as well apparently.
That's a good question considering I wasn't even sure myself if I forgave him or not.
It wasn't that big a deal I guess. But hey, I'm on my period, cut me some slack.
"I don't know...I'm not mad anymore it's just...I don't know. It's complicated. I don't want to say I forgive him and then our relationship gets serious, you know?" I said while fidgeting my fingers in my lap.
"You're so difficult. You like him. We all know this. He knows this. Only you don't know. So hike up your panties and give this whole feud thing a rest." Daniel said and put in his headphones without a care in the world.
Savage.
It was a long drive and Devin was still sleeping on me. As Daniel and Kevin slowly drifted off as well, it felt as if it was just me and Dev. I felt his heart beat from his neck and the warmth his body penetrated through mine. I slowly fell asleep too.
-
When I woke up, Devin's head was in my lap, Daniel on my shoulder, and Kevin...poor Kevin had his head
by Devin's butt. They were still slumped when I got out the car. I wish I could've seen their faces when they woke up in the positions they were in.
I got home and my mom had left a note about half an hour ago that she was trying to stay up for me, but she was too tired.
I went to my room and lay on my bed, staring up at my ceiling. It was like deja vu to when I had the mirror. This time, I used my imagination. I imagined what Devin would look like as he slept so peacefully. I remember the tempo of his heart and the energy of his body heat. I remembered my sweaty palms and skipping heart beat.
Lastly...I remembered the love I had for him. It had returned just that very moment. Every last drop.
