Lost Letters - Chapter 1
"Grand mummy! Can you tell us a story? Please?" Anna begged as she climbed into bed.
"Yes, grand mummy, please tell us a story." Elsa said, and got comfy into her own bed.
"Ah, I don't have a story to tell..." The grandmother of Elsa and Anna frowned, and sat in the rocking chair between the two twin beds.
The three sat silent. Elsa gasped from excitement when she remembered something that their grandmother had mentioned.
"You never told us about the wind messages!" Elsa exclaimed and grinned.
"Oh, that is a fascinating legend, indeed... Alright, get comfy girls. Ahem..." She cleared her throat. "This is a legend my grand mummy told me. Let's see... If you write a letter, and let the wind carry it, the one who replies is your true love."
"But grand mummy, it could be anyone that replies!" Anna stated.
"And what if the wind sends it somewhere where there aren't any people?" Anna added.
"Anna, it's a legend. The facts and all that complicated nonsense doesn't need to be added." The grandmother giggled. "You are always being so logical..."
"There are just so many things wrong with that. Also, what if the wind wasn't even blowing?" Anna said, shrugging at her grandmother's comment.
"Anna! Let grand mummy tell the story!" Elsa groaned.
"Oh, shush. Anyways... Back to this legend... There was a young girl- about 16- she had written a letter. She stated all the things about herself, told a life story... She wrapped this letter in a special envelope. She hoped that this legend was true... Ah, she was a hopeless romantic, always trying to find this true love. She would do anything to meet her special someone. She opened the window, and set the letter on her windowsill. Watching it blow away into the dark night." The grandmother told. Elsa leaned in, wanting to know what happened next while Anna just rolled her eyes at the silliness.
"A boy, about the same age, had received the letter three months later. He read it, and was very intrigued by the girl. But part of him had told him not to believe in the legend. He wasn't really into things like that..." The grandmother looked over at Anna. "Much like you, Anna..." Elsa giggled at her grandmother's remark. The grandmother looked back at Elsa, and continued. "But he wrote back to her. He wrote a letter about himself, his life, just like she. Wrapping his letter in another special envelope. Opening the window, and setting the letter on the windowsill. Waiting for the letter to blow away."
The grandmother looked over at the time, checking to see if she still had time to tell the tale. "The boy watched the letter blow away into the sky, and went to sleep. Months after, the girl had received the letter. She was very happy, and read it. The love story is a mystery from there... I don't exactly remember." The grandmother said, and got up.
"Aw! I wonder what happened next!" Elsa whined and looked over to her sister. "Don't you Anna?" But she was already fast asleep.
The grandmother giggled and kissed Elsa's forehead. "Oh, Elsa... Sweet dreams dear." Elsa hugged her. "Good night grand mummy."
The grandmother went over to Anna and did the same. "Good night girls."
Elsa fell asleep, hoping that one day she would meet her true love.
