♡ Alice's POV ♡

I gasped for air.

My senses were higher.

I could smell the freshly cut grass, the rain in the air. I could hear birds from miles away. I could hear heartbeats.

My eyes shot open and people gasped. The crowd erupted in conversation.

"Umm.... EARLY APRIL FOOLS!!" I heard Lisa exclaimed.

I looked around frantically. I looked up at the sky and and realized that breathing was different. It was like extra work.

Before I could process anything I was crushed in a hug. The smell of designer perfume filled my nose and blonde hair blocked my view. My mom was hugging me.

I was about to return the gesture when I froze.

Thump

Thump

I heard my mom's delicate heart beat thump. I heard her shallow breathing. I heard her blood pumping through her veins.

Listening closely....... I could hear everything.

Thump.

Zzzzzz.

Squawk.

"Then he was like 'I'm not the one who's whoring around.' Like, can you believe it? He dare-"

Gasp

I felt my face change and my emotions were going off the scale.

Before I could do anything I was pulled into a hard chest. Kol.

I clung to him like my life depended on it and breathed in his scent. He smelled like dark chocolate. I felt his hand pet my hair soothingly. I heard no heartbeat. I heard no blood pumping. My ear was pressed up against his chest as I concentrated on his steady breathing.

"APRIL FOOLS!? I tight my own daughter was dead!!! I wi-" I heard my mother start to threaten my friends.

"Get me out of here..." I whispered to Kol. I felt him nod and I closed my eyes. I felt myself being lifted and reached one arm around Kol and placed placed it his shoulder.

"Where do you think your going?!" I heard my mother practically scream.

Kol's gripped tightened on me. My eyes fluttered open and I saw my mom's well manicured hand grip Kol's arm.

"She will be staying with us!! This is the last straw young lady-"

"Would you like me to take you back to your parent's, love?" I heard Kol asked. I clung onto to him tighter and shook my head.

"I need to stay with... Kol." I closed my eyes again and tried to ignore all those thumps.

I imagined sinking my sharp teeth into my parents' soft flesh. Just like they deserve!

No, you won't become a monster. You helped Kol and now you'll show him that you meant it.

"-you will come with us, Alice." My dad commanded in a stern voice.

"No." I whimpered.

"Love, I can pick you up tomorrow-" I felt Kol's chin on top of my head as he quietly asked. He knew that all the sounds were giving me a massive headache.

I focused on his breathing.

"I'm old enough to live on my own. Please just take me back to your's." I pleaded Kol.

I felt him turn around with me I'm his arms and I heard four heart eats follow.

Kol stopped and I opened one eye. He shook his head at my friends and they nodded.

I figured that he wanted to train me first like he did Noah.

Kol started to walk again and I felt the swish of passing cars.

"Where will you go, huh??" I heard my mom ask.

"She'll stay with me." I heard Kol call back.

I bit my lip and tried to match my breathing with Kol's.
