"Sam, please just give us a chance to explain." Mark begs while Sam is trying to slam the door in their face.

"There's nothing you can say to fix this. He cheated on my sister and lied about it. I never want to see his face again." Sam spits out at Nathan accusingly her eyes full of disappointment and anger, and she continues to try to close the door with all her strength.

"Sam, Nate didn't cheat." Mark tells her prying the door open.

"You didn't?" Sam begins to loosen her hold a bit and looks at Nathan hopefully. Then looks at Mark, "How do you know?"

"No Sammy I didn't cheat on Kathy someone wanted to trick me into believing I did. Please just let me explain Sammy please, it's me Nate I've known you for half your life, you know I'd never hurt Kat intentionally."

"But you did Nate, when you left you broke her heart she became a completely different person. And you hurt her when you didn't tell her the truth you tried to cover it up. Don't you see, no matter how much I want to trust you, I don't think I ever can. Kathy's my sister Nate my older sister and you ruined her. I know you never meant for this to happen, but it did and you never owned up to it. Kathy would have forgiven you and taken you back in a blink of an eye. Don't you get that? She loved you so much, her love for you was unconditional and all consuming. When you left her and didn't tell her why, you crushed her. I never thought I would say this Nathan but I honestly don't care if you cheated on her or not, I just need you to leave before you rip apart what little bit of happiness she has left. Leave Nathan and never come back." With watery eyes Samantha slowly closes the door.

"What now?" Mark looks to Nathan.

"Now I listen to Sam, I'm leaving Mark for good this time and I'm not coming back.

"Kathy please! We haven't gone in such a long time." Robyn gives her best friend a puppy dog face knowing she'll give in.

"Ugh! Fine we'll go! But you have to promise me that we won't stay too long, I have an early shift in the morning."

Robyn claps her hands together and does a victory jump, happily attacking her friend in the process.

Kathy starts laughing and Robyn's eyes shoot up and she looks at her.

"What is there something on my face?" Kathy asks self consciously checking herself in the mirror above the entrance.

Robyn smiles and shakes her head, "No it's just I haven't heard your laugh in such a long time. I'm glad to hear it again, you've come a long way Kat." Tears brimmed around her big eyes.

"It's all thanks to you Robyn, if it wasn't for you I'd be halfway around the country miserable. Thank you, you truly are my best friend, now please don't cry or else I'll start and I won't be able to stop."

"You're right this is a happy moment, now lets go shopping!" Robyn excited grabs her keys to her orange hummer.

"She deserves to know!" A voice yells and wakes Kathy up from her peaceful slumber.

"Quiet down or I'll make you leave Mark." A girls voice tries to quiet down the persisting male.

"Why won't any of you tell her? What makes you any better than Bart?" Kathy's ears perk up to hearing her fathers name and she quickly and quietly exits the bedroom and listens to the voices staying out of their line of vision.

"Don't you dare compare me to that worthless excuse of a human being!"

"Then stop acting like him. Robyn you need to tell Kathy the truth about Nathan. He's leaving in a few days and she's the only one that can stop him."

"She doesn't need to know that he cheated on her." Kathy's eyes go wide and she slowly slides down the wall.

"He didn't cheat on her Robyn! That's what I'm trying to get you to understand Bart made it all up. Her paid some girl because he thought that Nathan was going to figure out his secret."

     "What secret?" Robyn asks curiously.

"Bart had an affair and has a child with his mistress." Kathy gasps along with Robyn.

Hearing the gasp Robyn and Mark round the corner to see a frozen Kathy.

"Kat, I'm so sorry you weren't suppose to hear any of that. What all did you hear?" Robyn bites her lip nervously.

"How dare you! How dare all of you! You knew why Nathan left and you didn't tell me! Y'all are suppose to be my friends." Kathy gets up and shuts her door.

"Can you meet me?" A shaky voice asks over the phone.

     "Of course. Is everything alright?"

"No it's not but I need to talk to you. I need the truth."

"Oh o-okay I'll meet you in our usual place?" They ask nervously.

"See you soon." The line goes dead.

     "Thanks for meeting me Nate."

"Of course you look great kitten, I've missed you." Nathan admires the strength in his blue-eyed girl's eyes.

"Don't Nathaniel, please just don't say that stuff to me not anymore."

"Of course I'm sorry." Nathan awkwardly stares at his shoes and motions for them to sit on the bench.

They both sit quietly for a while content with watching the children play on the playground, couples enjoying a picnic, some sitting on the grass reading and relaxing, or people run around the track. They both reflect to the times when they used to be the couple on the grass enjoying a picnic, taking a run together, or just enjoying each others company while they studied on the grass.

"Why didn't you tell me Nate?" Kathy asked in a dejected tone.

"I was stupid and selfish. I should have told you kitt-Kathy."

"How about you tell me know." She softly tells him finally turning to face him with her piercing blue eyes.

"After you left..." Nathan repeats what he told Robyn and Mark.

"Mark said you didn't cheat, and that my dad set you up? How do you know?"

"I was real drunk Kat there's no way I would have been able to sleep with her. And we assumed it was your dad because he's never really liked me, our suspicions were confirmed when I went to go talk to your father again."

"What happened?" Kathy's looks at Nathan and her heart breaks for so many reasons. One being that the man she loved lied to her and two the man she called father basically ruined her life.

"He told me the truth, and why he did it. I was adopted Kat."

Millions of thought crossed through Kathy's mind but she remembered Robyn's and marks conversation earlier about the mistress the blood draining from her face.
Does this mean he's my half brother?.....
