Broken Hearted

Chapter 1

"Why are you doing this to me?" Kathy questioned.

"Kathy I'm sorry I really am." Nathan replied.

"No you're not sorry." Kathy shakes her head trying to fight back the tears threatning to explode. "If you were really sorry you wouldnt be doing this to me."

"You dont understand I didn't, or don't have a choice." Nathan tells her dully fighting the urge to take this all back knowing he can't.

"Everyone has a choice Nathan, I thought you were different. I thought you actually cared about me, but I guess I was wrong." Not being about to hold it in anymore she chokes out some tears.

"I do care about you it's just that-"

"YOU DON'T CARE, DON'T YOU DARE EVER SAY THOSE WORDS TO ME AGAIN NATHANIEL ANDERSON!" Kathy interuppts him.

"Kathy I really am sorry." Nathan tries to give Kathy a hug but she pulls away immediatly, Nathan holds back a hurt expression knowing that it's what he deserves. "I dont understand why you think i dont care about you."

"The reason why I know you dont care is that you claim you love me and all that but if you did care you wouldn't be leaving...you wouldn't be breaking up with me."

"Kathy you're my everything and I love you more than you'll ever know."

"Then why are you doing this? Why do you have to leave me? I need you I don't want to live life without you." Kathy desperatly gasps for breaths of air starting to feel light headed from all her crying.

"I'm sorry." Is all he can stand to say to her knowing she deserves more he just cant find the words to tell her the truth. All he does is pull her into a loving embrace, this time Kathy doesn't protest and he gives her a loving kiss on her forehead and leaves without another word.

"You broke your promise..." Kathy whispers, Nathan barely hears her but cringes knowing he just hurt her in the worse way.

A few weeks earlier...

"Nathan I'm so lucky to have you, you're the only person I trust." Kathy tells Nathan while they sit down in her favorite park laying down on the grass under a tree enjoying the summer warmth.

"You're the only one I trust too. I promise I'll never leave you or let anyone or anything hurt you. I'm never letting you go." Nathan stares into Kathys clear blue eyes.

"I believe you but I have to be honest with you I'm still scared sometimes."

"Why?" Nathan looks at her with a concerned and hurt face expression he tries to hide it but Kathy sees it before it he's able to compose himself.

She feels horrible, wishing she never brought it up, "I'm scared you're going to leave me one day, so many people have walked in and out of my life. It's hurt me so much, and I'm terrified that one day you'll do the same. I dont want to have another broken heart, I wont be able to bear it," she answers looking down at the ground.

"Kathy I promise I'll never do that to you. I would hate myself for ever hurting you like that, and I would lose the most amazing girl and some other guy would just come and take you out of my hands. No way I'm ever going to let that happen, I love you way to much." He tips up her chin and kisses her.

"I know I'm sorry I shouldn't have brought it up."

"Hey I'm glad you did, no secrets okay." He gives her a smile.

"Okay she nods giving him a small smile."
