That night I laid in bed, with the lights off. I was in a slightly catatonic state, that I like to call “sleep”. I heard the door open, breaking me away from my thoughts.
“Don’t turn on the light.” I warned.
The bed slightly creaked as more weight was added to it, and a pair of long arms wrapped tightly around my waist. I sighed, frustrated, knowing I would soon forgive him.
“Brighton…” he murmured, while kissing my shoulder, “You have to understand why I have to do this. I can’t let anything happen to you.”
“Well maybe we all shouldn’t go!” I snapped, “’cause I definitely can’t let anything happen to you or the rest of your family either… especially not you.” I ended up whispering.
I buried my face within my pillow. “Go away!” I whined, the sound muffled.
“No.”
I huffed. His grip tightened, and he pulled himself closer to me.
“Brighton, turn around.”
“No.” came my muffled voice.
“Brighton…” his tone more demanding now.
I rolled onto my stomach and glared.
“All the way.”
I rolled over to my side, crossing my arms, glaring at the space behind him, not wanting to get caught in his eyes.
“Happy?” I mumbled.
“Very.” he said, while pushing back the hair that had fallen into my face, “I wanted to see your beautiful face.”
I kept glaring. He moved his fingers, under my chin, forcing me to look at him.
“Please, Brighton?”
“We’ll see.” I said.
He rolled his eyes, “Is that the best answer I’ll get tonight?”
“Yes, enjoy it.”
He kissed my forehead, and laid his head on mine. We didn’t say anything else for the rest of the night. I closed my eyes and immersed myself in my thoughts again. How I wished for sleep!
In the morning, Alice and Emmett barged in.
“I knew it!” she exclaimed.
“I haven’t forgiven him all the way yet!” I tried to defend myself.
“Sure…” nodded Alice, while following Emmett out the door.
I turned my face back to Jasper, going to roll my eyes at Alice, to find a slightly hurt face.
“Hi.” I finally said.
“Hi… Why can’t you forgive me?” his deep voice asked, slightly raspy.
I sighed, not knowing how to explain it.
“Because… this is a big deal… you can’t just say no because you don’t want me there.”
“I’d love to have you there, but, it’s too dangerous.”
I looked down, not saying anything, knowing we’d just end up in a fight again. He sighed, rubbing his fingers over my cheek. He leaned over placing the slightest kiss on my forehead, nose, cheek, and finally my lips. The kisses were light pecks at first, then they grew deeper and slightly longer. I wrapped my arms around his neck, tangling my hands in his hair. I felt his tongue, slowly graze my lip, I obliged and opened my mouth. Quickly, I was flipped on top of him. I let my tongue run along his fangs. Then I was flipped again, this time I was on my back and Jasper on top of me. He broke away from the kiss, to look at me. I slightly giggled from being nervous and giddy. I ran my hand over the muscles on his arms, showing through his shirt.
