Emmett, Rosalie, Esme, Carlisle, and I went out hunting, while leaving Jasper, Edward, and Bella behind. As we walked deeper and deeper into the woods, I sighed, “It feels so nice to be able to breathe again.”
Emmett let out a large laugh, while the rest of the family chuckled. “I have to say, I agree.” said Esme. “Although, we do have to be thankful for Jacob and all he’s done.” Carlisle said, finding no wrong in anybody.
“Of course. Poor Jacob, imagine explaining later in life, well I used to be in love with your mom.” I said. Emmett tried to hold back his laughter, but couldn’t, and it came out in large cackles.
“Race you, Brighton?” he asked, after calming down. “Fine, but winner gets the biggest bear.” I demanded.
“Sounds good.”
“Okay… readysetgo!” I shouted, while running, I heard Emmett’s “Hey now!” fading into the distance. He was soon behind me, I could hear his footsteps as he ran. “So, any wedding bells for you and Jasper?” he shouted.
“Don’t distract me, Emmett!” I yelled back.
“I’m not! It’s a fair question!”
I slowed down slightly, “There will be if he asks me!” I sped up again, managing to reach an area where bears were known to be at, milliseconds before he did. I smiled a big, toothy grin.
“I win!” I shouted in glee.
“You cheat.” he grumbled.
We both climbed up a tree and waited for the bears to come sauntering in. Saunter in they did, two males and a female. The one male was huge, probably ten times the size of Emmett.
“That one’s mine.” I hissed, feeling the venom seeping out of my fangs. Emmett grumbled some more. The two males began fighting, loud growls, like Emmett’s coming up from their throats.
“I say we go break this up.” said Emmett, his eyes wide and black now. I nodded, and we both jumped out of the trees, a feral snarl ripping from my throat. We both crashed into our prey, surprising them. If I said that this bear was ten times the size of Emmett, then it was one hundred times the size of me.
For a second, panic rushed into my mind, but I brushed it away. The bear came bounding at me, managing to catch my shirt with his paw. I pulled him down and we went rolling. Finally, I managed to get him into a position where I could bite him. The blood felt like ecstasy sliding down my throat. I leaned on a rock waiting for Emmett to finish up, while trying to get the forest foliage out of my hair. Being away from Jasper made me anxious, and Emmett was taking far too long. He was running in circles around the bear, confusing it.
“Don’t play with your food, Emmett.” I lazily said.
He grumbled and the bear’s growls were no longer heard. He got up slightly disshelved, then looked to me, eyes laughing, “Nice look there, I like it. Going for a natural look?” he laughed.
I shoved him, “Shut up!” We ran back to the house to find Rosalie, Esme, and Carlisle already there. “What took you so long?” Rosalie snapped.
“Emmett plays with his food.” I simply said.
“And Brighton was trying out a new style.” he retorted back.
I glowered at him, and stalked through the front door. I stopped and listened for movement that could tell me the whereabouts of Jasper. I heard a slight movement in the living room. I walked into the room to meet four pairs of eyes. I heard Alice’s disapproving, “Oh, Brighton.” and Edward’s laugh, and Bella’s giggle. I flicked my eyes to Jasper as he walked towards me.
