"Do you ever feel like a normal person?" Mia asks me as we enjoy brunch on a terrace of a popular cafe. "I mean I know that this has all you've ever known but did you ever grow up feeling like you were part of a circus act?"
I rub my lips together, "You're right in saying that this is all I've ever known but it wasn't all bad because I got to experience things that most people never have or never will. I lived a very privileged life but I definitely started to feel like an outsider when I began observing the way other people who did not share the same life as me lived. They did not have grown men following them around with cameras or parents who spent all their time on set and travelling the world every other week."
"Did that then influence the way you raised us?"
"What are you? A journalist?" I raise a brow at my daughter who laughs. "I love my career but I always told your father that our family came first and that we would try our hardest to raise you outside of the limelight. I know that it isn't always possible but we tried our best and people were actually not allowed to shareimages of you guys before you became legal without our permission."
"Oh wow." Mia looks at me wide eyed. "That's why my friend's parents would have to ask you if I was allowed to be in a picture."
I nod my head, "Not everybody is a good person and if we did not enforce these boundaries then there would have been so many images of you guys online from when you were young. We carried non-disclosure agreements with us whenever we were going to a big gathering, we travelled with security and carried disguises so you guys could somewhat lead a normal life."
"When are you going to start singing again?"
"What's with all the questions?" I ask with laugh before spearing through the scrambled eggs on my plate. "I'll sing when I'm ready for the commitment that comes with it but for now I'm focusing on Carmen's Secret and my acting career."
"I'm just wondering." She shrugs her shoulders before taking a long sip of her iced drink. "I was hoping that since Uncle Greyson is taking Jace on tour with him then maybe we could do our own North American tour."
"Mia." I pout while looking at my daughter. Mia and I both had plans of joining parts of Greyson's tour but I have no idea what's going on with that now since he has taken personal time for himself.
I know that the music that my brother makes is not to her personal personal taste so it was expected that she would rather headline her own tour and do things her way.
"It's fine if you don't wan-"
"Nobody knows what's going on with my brothers tour but I'm positive that we can make something happen and it would be my honor to be your opening act." I softly say before winking at her and she rests her hand in mine. "I'm yours, Mia."
