I turned around to come face to face to Emmy. She's going to get it later.
"What's your problem?!" I yelled.
"Well, I saw you coming and thought, 'Why not scare Jen Jen?' Now we're here." It was times like these where I wanted to strangle her.
"Did you just call me Jen Jen?" A small grin made it's way onto my face as I asked her the question. I wonder where Chance is though. I haven't gotten any texts or calls and it's been really quiet around here. Usually this would relax me, but now it's a little nerve wrecking.
"Did I?" She asked. The look on her face told me she was seriously asking.
"We're going to the doctor's office after school ok?" I giggled even though I was kinda serious. Her head needed to be checked asap.
"Oh, no can do. I was going to go check on Mandy today. You can join me if you want." Oh yeah. I thought that she was just gonna be late, but she didn't show at all.
"Of course. Something must be seriously up if she still hasn't shown up."I said. Mandy was like a sister and if she wasn't ok, then neither was I.
"OH MY GOSH! Do you think she was kidnapped by the bumpy toad monster like princess peach?!" Emmy screeched with a terrified frown on her face. Once again, I couldn't tell if she was serious or not.
"No... I'm 100% positive Bowser didn't kidnap Mandy." I said, attempting to hold back my laugh. Emmy was such an odd person, but I couldn't help but love her. Best friends for life. We started reminiscing our old memories as we continued down the forest path. We talked about all kinds of things, from the pranks we played on each other to the never ending sleepovers we had.
Rustle Rustle
Oh no. Not this again. Am I prone to creepy things or something because this is kind of excessive.
"Hey," Chance emerged from between the opening in the bushes nonchalantly, holding an envelope. he strolled over to where we we're standing and handed it to me. I could tell that it was the clue we had been looking for before he disappeared.
"Hey? Are you serious? You had me worried something bad happened to you. Please don't just walk off like that again." I fumed. I wouldn't be surprised if my face was turning red because that happened whenever I was mad. My head was already filled with worry thinking about Mandy and the drama with Mia. If something really did happen to Chance, I don't know what I would do knowing that I could have been able to prevent it. I also, had to remember that he's older than me. He could take care of himself.
He walked over to me and embraced me in a hug, resting his chin on my head. "I'm sorry Jenny. I promise I won't walk off again." he said. I felt the sincerity in his words.
"Aw! Relationship goals!" Emmy squealed ruining the short lived moment. I quickly let go of Chance and backed away to the other side of the small clearing we were in. Hiding my face, I heard him chuckling. Ha ha. What does this stupid clue say?
I tore the top of the envelope off and took out the little card with the next clue.
"What does it say?"Emmy asked.
"You're not even in our group." Chance grumbled. He had his arms folded and he had a slight frown on his face.
"And?" Emmy gave him a questioning look challenging him to oppose, with her hands on her hips. Chance cowered away and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Hmph. Fine. You can stay." He focused his attention on a nearby tree with its leaves slowly beginning to fade to browns and oranges.
Emmy chuckled and walked toward me while she mumbled, "I was gonna stay regardless."
