She woke up and saw one of the pups towering over her. The kid wouldn't meet her eyes and had an impassive expression on his face. But when he spoke, there was a quiver in his voice.

"Axel told me to wake you up. Said breakfast is ready."

She nodded, a frown on her face when she realized that the kid was afraid of her. "Thank you, tell him I'll be right down with him."

He nodded and left. She got out of bed, determined to be the alpha she knew she used to be and her pack thought she could be again. The least she could do was try for them. She dressed in ripped blue jeans and a dark grey sweatshirt. She threw her hair in a high bun and walked downstairs.

"Finally! I was just about to come downstairs." Axel grinned at her when she entered the kitchen, watching the ease with which she was walking. She looked like her old self when she was at ease and not performing her alpha duties.

She laughed. "Yeah, had to take care of some things."

"Like what?" He asked, confused. What did she need to take care of so early in the morning, in her room on top of that?

She laughed, her laugh easier this time for this time, real mirth backing it.

"You are the opposite of your brother, Axey." She giggled as she walked to the counter and grabbed two pancakes, walking off to the dining room. Cain and TJ were the only ones present there. The rest seemed to have eaten already.

"Why? What's so different? I thought we were the same." Axel complained going after her.

"TJ, what is different from last time you saw me?" She asked him.

He looked at her and quickly made observations. "Your hair."

"What's wrong with your hair?" Axel complained.

Cain chuckled lowly. The scene reminded him too much of what it used to be like before the attack. Adrian laughing to himself and Ariel and Axel fighting like real siblings.

"It's shorter."

"How would I know it's shorter?

Ariel looked at TJ.

"The bun is smaller it obviously shows that something is different. Either she shaved half her head off or she cut them." TJ replies with a smirk at Axel.

"You are unobservant. Just like your brother wasn't." Ariel made her point and finished her first pancake.

Axel made a face at her and sat down too.

She shook her head lightly and worked through her food. Then she looked at her pack mates.

"I want to have a meeting in half an hour, Cain. Make sure everyone's present." She said to him.

He nodded and stood up. "I'll go inform everyone."

She cocked her head sideways. "The mind-link isn't working." She observed.

"No, it stopped working when we felt the third leader die. Namely, your wolf."

She nodded her head slowly. "Very well, go ahead, inform them."

Cain left the room, a huge grin on his face. He could already see the wheels working in her mind before he left the room. She was coming back.

"I called the meeting to discuss the situation we have ongoing." She said, standing behind her chair on the dining table. "I was informed you have decided to have me as the alpha. I agreed to it but I want to be sure that all of you want it. I don't want to be told later that you didn't agree and you caved in because you didn't want to create an issue."
