“I called you here about TJ’s suggestion regarding security.” She said as Cain and Axel sat down on the other side of her desk. She then explained his idea and the lack of finances available to them. Both of them sat quietly as they thought it over. “The only option I see possible is to make use of all our savings and allow the men to look for jobs outside to try reestablishing the older system.”
She let them stew over her suggestion, Cain seeming to be resigned while Axel was thinking it all over. She knew his opinion would be important, knowing from her mate that he was interested in studying finances, well had been before the attack. She had conferred with him over her decisions related to money.
"What if...?" Axel began. She focused on him. "What if, instead of using our savings, we took a loan?"
"Axel..." She started
"No, hear me out." He said, getting excited. "What if we decided, instead, to get a loan? We could go to the bank, the human bank, and ask for loan against some of the land? We could get a deal for the interest..."
"No, no interest. We already are in a bind. It will take us years to be able to repay the bank and the men need money to start their families soon." She replied.
Axel slumped in defeat for a moment before his eyes brightened. "I know. What if we took a loan from another pack? One of our allies? We could cut a better deal."
"That could mean sharing our reason for the need. It's a security risk." Cain added.
She pursed her lips in thought. She didn't really want to use the savings and this did sound like a good idea of they could make it work. "Axel, look at the different camera systems and motion security systems available and calculate their total cost individually. Involve TJ, if you need to. I need that by tomorrow."
"Cain, you will need to collect the forms from the boys so I can contact their packs." She said. "When we have an estimate of the cost, I will think about the both options and decide whether this is viable or not."
They both nodded in acknowledgement of her orders, standing up.
“How many of the forms have you received yet?” She asked, looking up from her screen towards Cain who had just entered her office.
“All of them. I have grouped them by pack for organization.” He reported, putting the packets in front of her. “Some of the guys have informed me of their selected houses and await approval to begin moving in and decorating.” He handed her a page. “The rest of them will let me know by tomorrow morning.”
She nodded, glancing over the page and putting it aside. “Anything else?” She asked and dismissed him upon receiving a negative answer.
She turned back to the paperwork she had been filling before she had been interrupted. She was getting tired of the constant paperwork, her hand was in a constant state of cramping. Every little thing needed to be recorded and put in appropriate files. And taking a loan as she had, required even more paperwork. She had called Cortez to ask him for some money to install the new security system. She had been wanted to get the money from someone she trusted and wouldn’t take advantage of them and their situation. He had sent the right amount of money and hadn’t agreed on an interest, she was to return the original amount whenever she could with no pressure.
She had already asked TJ and Axel to buy the cameras and sensors for the already agreed spots on the territory. They were to install it themselves and not have the company guy come over. She didn’t want the knowledge of the new system or it’s location available to anyone outside of the pack.
"We have one from Blue Stone Pack." Axel reported. "I contacted their Beta Donald and he has reported that the paperwork on their side is complete and Natalie is nearly done packing. He will contact us about her move when it is final."
"That one is Erik's mate correct?" She asked, making a note on the planner in front of her.
He nodded. "Kate from Midnight Pack is done packing, has finished her paperwork and will be arriving three days from now, so this Thursday."
"So soon?" She asked.
"According to the paperwork I have received, Kate is a warrior and prone to being on the borders for long periods of time. I assume, she doesn't keep much." He said, handing over the next page for the hardcopy files of the pack paperwork. She took it and gave it a cursory glance before putting it aside.
"Very well, who is next?"
"Amelia from Moonshine Pack." He gave a glance down to his planner. "Her paperwork is slow in coming to us but the Beta Adam said that he had received it and would forward it after checking. He also said that he would contact us about the move."
She nodded her head. "That was Nick's and Tobias's mates. What about Fred?"
"That is Hailey from Moonstone pack. Her paperwork is here and ready for you and she is packed but her arrival here will be late. She has a sick mother that she is taking care of and doesn't want to leave. She is waiting for her brother to return from a diplomatic trip before she leaves."
Ariel nodded. "That's leaves River."
"That is Jessica from Shadow Pack. I have not approached them yet. I am unsure if I should or whether you will contact Alpha Richard?" Axel inquired.
She pursued her lips, thinking. "Why don't you contact his beta like normal? If there is a problem, I will deal with it."
He nodded. "I will contact him and let you know."
"Anything else?" She asked. He consulted his notes before looking up.
"The security system has been installed. TJ is just going to finish setting up the security room and he will need you to come see it. Cain and Cameron will need to be told to set up learning routine as well as monitoring routine for the rest of the pack."
"I will set aside some time for him tomorrow." She nodded. "This needs to be done before the traffic increases around the pack."
"Yes." He agreed. "That's it for me."
"Get me a report on the food growth in the last week and an estimation on how much of an upscale is needed for the new pack members." She looked over her own planner. "And have you sent someone for the weekly inspection on the wall?"
"Yes, I sent Aiden. Everything is good." Axel reported.
"No issues with the housing for the newly mated?"
"No, everything is on schedule for the arrival of their mates. We are trying to keep them as unoccupied as possible to give then time to prepare."
"Make sure not to exhaust everyone else either. Now that we have a rough estimate of their arrivals, they can adjusted accordingly. They will want time with their mates as well."
Axel nodded. "I will discuss this with Cameron"
"Any issues patrolling? Or training?"
He shook his head. "I haven't been informed of anything. I will confirm with Cain either way."
She nodded, that was the area under her gamma. But she didn't have time to deal with everyone individually, she wouldn’t get anything done that way. Instead, they all reported to Axel who summarized everything for her weekly, unless something was wrong or urgent, then it was brought to her immediately. She had too much to do herself; bills, business deals, peace contracts, diplomacy that was usually done with diplomatic teams, her pup, internal pack problems, training and her upcoming heat. She rarely had a moment to rest.
"Has Tobias checked on the state of the pack vehicles like I asked him to?" They would need the cars or some kind of vehicle for when the luggage arrived at the human town via whatever mode of transport they used. Or even for transport later on if they wanted to go back to their own packs for a visit. They weren't all close enough for a trip in their wolf forms.
"He is doing it between preparing his house and will hand the report on the status of all the cars sometime today. I will look it over and summarize it for you tomorrow at 3?" His report turned into a question at the end.
"That's fine. If we have at least three working vehicles, leave it at that. But if not, summarize a report of what will be needed to repair them."
"Me?" He asked, eyes wide.
"I already told Tobias to write what will be needed with each of the vehicles. Just pick three of the most appropriate ones for your report to me." She replied, rolling her eyes at him.
He gave her a sheepish smile. "Sorry."
She waved a hand, dismissing it. "I don't have anything else noted for today." She concluded. "If there is nothing left with you?"
He shook his head in reply and stood up to leave when she moved her hand dismissing him, already moving her attention to paperwork he had handed her about the new additions to the pack. She would read the details, note down any questions or concerns to be brought up with the pack alphas or the women themselves. Then she would file them accordingly in the archive room. They kept their paperwork in an archive vault behind the alpha's office and in soft copy, backed up multiple times with secure fire walls.
