The only thing which was ringing in his head was the news he had gotten some minutes ago...
Your parents are no more.
Why his destiny was so cruel, he was about to decipher but only thing he knew was God never loved him. He was there for some prescribed disciples of his, whom he liked but Ryan was never one of them.
Ryan gulped standing up from his chair looking at the doctor who came on their side followed by some interns. His heart had never beaten so loudly that he was afraid, people around him could hear the loudness of his heart. He was embarrassed on himself, after a long time he had asked something from the Lord, Zarah believed so much. He didn't want to do it but Zarah's well being had pushed him.
"Ms. Zarah is out of danger. Once she gets consciousness we will go through some check ups again to know the after effects but basically she is all fine."
"Thank you doctor." His voice mixed up with others' gratitude but Ryan couldn't utter in words, what type of relief moved over him hearing doctor's statement.
The doctor went off giving them a formal smile and Zarah's mother came near him. She smiled at him while patting his head, "Thanks to you for bringing her here so soon else didn't know what would've happen."
The heavy weight of guilt seemed to be put on his shoulders as Zarah's mother showed her gratitude to him and Zarah's father gave him a smile of thankfulness. They all would crush him down in guilt and embarrassment.
Ryan was not her saviour, he was the one who had pushed Zarah to this condition.
He was the reason behind her broken breaths and painful gasps.
Ryan shook his head, "Don't thank me." He wetted his lips in order to stop himself from saying the truth, "I didn't do anything."
"I have heard a lot about you and your niece Maira from Zarah." Zarah's mother told him as they got seated on the waiting chair while Zarah's father went for some formalities. Ryan had sent Hanan home as Maira needed him as she was with the maid for many hours.
"It won't be anything good."
Zarah's mother gave a chuckle, "It wasn't anything bad either." She replied with pursed lips looking at her.
Ryan nodded looking ahead, thinking in his head various scenarios of how he would apologize to Zarah when she would wake up because that weight of guilt wasn't letting him rest.

The tiny spark of pain moved to her head as Zarah tried to give a small smile to her parents. After soothing her parched throat with two to three gulps of water, she was now seated on the bed having light conversation with her mother and friend, Faiza.
"How are you Ms. Zarah?"
The doctor came inside and gave her a professional smile, his hands holding a writing pad.
"I'm fine, Alhamdulillah. Just a little pain in head"
Zarah answered in a slow speech trying to move away the feeling of ache and drowsiness from her being.
"Okay. It will be fine by tomorrow. Now..." The doctor flipped some pages and looked at her in question, "Is that okay with you, I will ask some questions and you are gonna answer me. Just some check up?"
"Yeah sure."
"What's your name?"
"Zarah Khan." Zarah answered quickly.
"Who's this?" The doctor gestured towards her mother and father whom she quickly recognized.
"That's Faiza, my colleague and friend. " Zarah answered when doctor asked about Faiza.
"And who's this?" Zarah furrowed her brows looking at the man standing beside the doctor whom he was gesturing at. She bit her lower lip, she had no idea who was he.
"I'm sorry. Do we know each other?" The man looked at her a little too long, making her conscious of herself. She didn't know him then why he was staring at her like that as if she was doing a mistake. Because she wasn't!
The doctor looked at the man standing beside him and gave a small smile to her. "How would you know him, he brought you here when you got into the accident." Zarah nodded getting a relief as her mind had started throwing weird assumptions on herself.
"Okay tell me something you had planned to do with your friends."
"My friend is about to get married in few days so we all had planned to visit that new mall together before she would get married."
Asking some more questions, the doctor went outside with Papa and that man in tow. His eyes still moving in her head! No she wasn't wrong. But something was in his eyes, the shine or that confusion that Zarah didn't want to forget that man or more like was unable to.
