His fingers tapped on his knees as he waited for the doctor to come in his cabin.
I'm sorry. Do we know each other?
Those words had poked in his heart, making it bleed and that pain Ryan could feel in his every organ. Was it some kind of joke? Was Zarah faking that she forget him because he had hurt her? Because she remembered everybody except him.
What a punishment!
If that was some kind of punishment from her side then she had really done a great job because nothing was so hurting than seeing the shades of confusion in her eyes seeing him.
The greeting which she had done seeing him in the hospital today collided with the words of uncertainty Zarah had spoken few minutes ago, bursting out and leaving him in worry and turmoil. The doctor came in and Ryan didn't even bother to stand up seeing him as Zarah's father did.
"What's the problem doctor?"
Ryan quickly asked without giving him the time to take his seat. The doctor nodded while going through his writing pad.
"I think she is suffering from amnesia. Retrograde in her case. She hasn't forgotten everything but some pieces of her memory has been faded due to the accident. I think one or two months has been vanished from her memory." The doctor told them showing her reports and pointing at some specific part of her brain which was affected. " That's what it is, that's the reason Ms.Zarah have no idea that the mall she was planning to go with her friends has already been destroyed in a bomb blast."
Ryan gritted his teeth and fisting his hands on the mocking of
She will get back that memory but it will take time and I will suggest to don't push her. Let her remember everything on her own."
Ryan exited without hearing anything further and leaving Zarah's father there. Why he was thinking so much about it? She wasn't anything to him, she wasn't related to him. Zarah just pushed him into a pit of irritation and nothing else. But he couldn't accept the fact that she forgot him whatsoever. He didn't want her to forget him, he wanted to seek her forgiveness but now what he would do.
He stopped outside Zarah's room, looking from the glass that she was sleeping with now a scarf around her head. Ryan tiptoed inside the room to have just one glance of that girl, his heart adamant. Her eyelashes kissing her cheeks as she took slow breaths, her lips pursed. Why she had to forget him?
"Hey!"
Ryan stopped while going to the door, hearing a soft voice behind him and found Zarah watching him with a soft smile. That was the first time Zarah gave a smile to him, that was only for him without any ill. She was giving him a genuine smile and why the hell his mind was freaking out?

"I wanted to thank you."
Zarah said while sitting up a little and giving a smile at the stranger who had given her a chance to live once again.
"Not a problem."
The guy nodded his head and moving his gaze away from her. Zarah watched his ruined clothes, the yellow shirt which had her blood on it.
"I'm Zarah Khan by the way."
"Ryan Ahmed." He gave a tight lipped smile and moved a little ahead to shake hands with her but she denied with a shook of her head.
"Sorry. No hand shakes." Ryan moved a little away from her and she gestured him to sit on the chair beside her bed. That man looked confused, stuck in his own thoughts.
"Was my accident so severe that you're still unable to talk?"
"Maybe. I thought I have lost you."
Zarah was unable to form words hearing his words. It held so much meaning, feelings and emotions which she didn't know she could feel. But why? She hadn't met that man ever then why he was so bothered by her accident.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. Buck up. Allah does everything fine."
Ryan just hummed in response and looked at some void point on the wall. There was some weird feeling of respect inside her which had crawled due to the gesture he had done for her, he had saved her life.
"Okay, got to go. You take care of yourself."
Ryan stood up from his chair and chided her just we do to a child. Zarah nodded with a toothed smile and felt her gut twist in an unusual manner as Ryan gave her a tight lipped smile. She was unable to wipe that smile from her face as she stared at him till he didn't vanish from her eyes.
