"Void, you really should get rid of your 'tough' pretence."
"Pretence?" I questioned.
"He let go of his act when it comes to me, surprisingly," the mage chuckled, yet his eyes did not.
It creeped me out.
Void, recovering from both physical and mental attacks, flew to me and settled on the railing.
"I am not trusting myself to you ever again," he whispered silently with teary eyes.
"I never asked you to," I replied.
"One day," the mage begin speaking again, "I received a 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻." His words piqued my attention, and Void dared not interrupt him again.
"It was about a girl from millenas away who would one day wield my greatest creation and save the world from a great devastation. The wielder is said to be 𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘴𝘺 and 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘩 - which was quite the nature for someone who would 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 the world - yet 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵. But that was that, and I was ordered to embody those concepts."
Am I... hearing him right? Fate? Revelation?
As if he understood my confusion, he spoke, "fate and revalations were two of the most greatest force of nature. Even for a great mage such as myself, going against it would have been foolish. I followed it's wish and eventually I created a prototype named Void."
I noticed Void's body tensing.
"Void, you see," he resumed as Void slided towards me despite the earlier abuse, "was a little shy birdie made out of the concept of 'emptiness'." He reached out to pat him, but Void dodged the touch as he leaned closer to me.
I did not expect for an origin lore to surface suddenly but I listened closely as he continued, his expression that of someone gazing into the distant past.
Void casted his eyes aside, refusing to meet his own. The mage turned back and pause for a moment as he softly gaze at Ophelia.
"He was a failure," hearing such cruel words caught me off guard- "the time separating when I made him and the others was considerable. He contained many faults by the time he was completed. As time went by, he too became smart enough for sensing my regret."
I side eyed Void who was almost leaning against me. Though I couldn't see his face, his sadness was almost palpable.
𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘱𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘦, I internally concluded. I tried not to look as cold as that thought made me.
"The most bothersome was 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴. Not only does it carry numerous ways to punish its wielder, it also carried potential for death, and many, such as yourself, have only narrowly escaped."
So... my coma almost killed me?
Leaning forward, he sighed deeply, "kwamis themselves became quite a burden for me at one point in history but Void kept his position at the top."
I glimpsed Void's claws clutching, and yet I asked, "how come all the Kwamis, especially Void became a burdain?"
"It was around the time I got an apprentice and just for an experiment I had him use Void's power. The moment he de-transformed, 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 acted up and he lost the memories of his entire life, along with his whole potential to be a mage."
He sounded like a psychopath with how casually he said that.
"After that incident, I lost my apprentice. It was not just a casual memory loss, his ability and memory loss later caused him massive mental stress, he had an identity crisis because of that before going completely insane."
