Alexa slowly opened her window and quickly locked her door. She pulled out her phone and texted, "I'm coming," before crawling through the window, shutting it behind her, jumping on to the grass. "Where'd you think you're going little lady?" a familiar voice then asked behind her, Alexa squeezing her eyes shut and sighing, turning around to face Kelly. "Oh hey dad," Alexa said shyly waving, Kelly pointing into the house. Alexa rolled her eyes before walking in, Kelly closing the door behind him. "How'd you know..." "You think I'm that dumb. I know you wouldn't just give up that easily. When I was your age, I did the same thing," Kelly told her, Alexa sitting down on a chair, not saying a word. "Hand over your cellphone" "But dad..." "Alexa Shay Severide... Now," Kelly said holding out his hand, Alexa dropping her phone into his hand. "I hate you," she mumbled, Kelly's heart suddenly feeling as if it had shattered into a million pieces. "I know you don't mean that" "I do! I hate you!" Alexa screamed running up the stairs, slamming her bedroom door shut. Kelly placed Alexa's phone on the counter and walked into his bedroom, gently closing the door and locking it. He then sat down on his side of the bed, pulling out a scrap book. As soon as he opened it, tears formed in the corner of his eyes. He ran his fingers over Shays face in a photo, flashbacks of that day creeping back into his mind.
"Can anyone reach Dawson and Shay? I can't get ahold of them," Chief said over the radio, Kelly racing down the stairs finding Gabby giving CPR to Shay. "Shay!" Kelly cried out scrambling over, taking over compressions, Gabby giving her mouth to mouth. It was no use. She was gone.
Kelly wiped a tear as it fell down his face, finding a CD tucked in the pocket. The contract. He pulled it out and stared at it before popping it into the DVR, it taking a few seconds to load up. "Do you even know how to work that thing?" Kelly asked, Shay nodding her head as she took a sip of beer. "Of course I do! Let's make a contract. Are you recording?!" Shay asked, Kelly nodding his head.
Kelly smiled as he watched the video, memories flooding back into his mind. "Okay one last thing..." Shay said. "What's that?" Kelly had asked her, Shay taking another sip of the beer, Kelly laughing. "No matter how tough work gets, we never bring it home because what we do here, is more important than all of that," Shay said, Kelly agreeing. "Also, we agree to stay out of each others business," Kelly replied, Shay rolling her eyes. "Fine, and one final thing" "What?" "That we'll always be there for each other, always. No matter what" "Always"
Kelly then heard a knock on the door and quickly paused the video. "Who is it?" he asked. "It's me can you open up?" Sylvie asked, Kelly getting up and opening the door, Sylvie immediately wrapping her arms around his neck, kissing his lips. Kelly pulled back at her and smiled, Sylvie licking her lips. "Have you been crying or have you been eating a lot of saltine crackers? I can't tell," she asked, Kelly shrugged. "She broke you again didn't she?" Sylvie asked pointing up the stairs towards Alexa's room. Kelly nodded his head and sighed. "Honestly, I don't know what to do about her anymore. I tried Sylvie. She hates me," Kelly said, Sylvie leaning in and kissing him, Kelly passionately kissing her back. Sylvie then shut the door and locked it, Kelly shaking his head. "Sylvie, the kids..." "They're upstairs doing homework. Let's just focus on you and I," Sylvie told him pushing him onto the bed, giggling as Kelly tickled her, sneaking kisses onto her neck."Hey Antonio thanks for doing this," Gabby said as she stood in front of Antonio's house with Olivia, Diego popping out his head and smiling. "Ah just the person I was waiting for," he said fist bumping Olivia, Diego shaking his hand. "You got some knuckles there girl. You know how to use them," Diego said moving out of the way, Olivia running into the house. "I'll pick you up at eight" "Sure you will mom. Just enjoy spending time with dad," Olivia finger quoted, Gabby blushing. "It's no problem. She's always welcomed here," Antonio said as Gabby walked in, closing the door behind her. "I can't be too long. Matt's in the car," Gabby said sitting down, Antonio nodding. "How's work?" Antonio sighed as he took a sip of bud light. "You tell me. Does getting shot at from a few feet away sound fun?" Antonio asked, Gabby chuckling. "It sure does but when you're actually ready, try standing on a roof facing the intensity of a building fire that's about to collapse," Gabby told him, Antonio rolling his eyes. "Fair enough," he mumbled, Matt beeping the horn outside. "Alright I better get going," Gabby said standing back up, flattening down her shirt. "It was nice seeing you little sis," Antonio said hugging her and opening the door, Gabby smiling as she walked out. "Bye pumpkin," Gabby said waving, Olivia waving back. "Bye mom," Olivia replied as Antonio closed the door, Gabby walking back to Matt's car.
"Ready?" Matt asked lacing fingers with Gabby, Gabby nodding her head. "Readier than I'll ever be," she replied leaning over and kissing him, Matt kissing back stronger. "Let's save this for later," Gabby said as she drew back, Matt's heart beating out of his chest. "Really?" "I heard about what you and Liv were talking about earlier," Gabby said, Matt gulping. "What'd she say?" "Something about having another baby," Gabby replied raising an eyebrow, Matt shrugging. "I have no idea what she's talking about" "Matthew Casey I know you better than anyone else. Don't joke like that," Gabby said playfully punching his shoulder, Matt rolling his eyes. "I know" "It's just not a good time right now. You do realize how old we are right?" "We're not that old" "Matt you're turning 42 in a few days," Gabby said, Matt shrugging. "That's the age Herrmann was when Luke was born" "Babe you don't see my point," Gabby replied, Matt shrugging. "What's your point then?" Matt then asked raising his voice, Gabby squeezing his hand tighter, Matt's face turning red. "You better lower your voice or you'll be having a lot more problems other than convincing your wife on having a second child. Do you understand?" Gabby asked, Matt nodding. "Wow I'm starting to think I married my own mother," Matt chuckled, Gabby rolling her eyes. "Matt what I'm trying to say is, let mother nature take over and see what happens. I may be saying I'm not ready but let's just wait and see what happens," Gabby said staring into his blue eyes, her heart rate suddenly rising, Matt noticing the tension. "Oh really?" he asked as he wrapped his arm around her back, pulling her in for a kiss.
"Hey Olivia! Your parents are making out on the driveway," Diego said as he stared out the window, Olivia walking over and peeking. "Is there any place in Chicago where they haven't made out?!" Olivia asked as she stormed out the house, knocking furiously on Matt's side on the window. Matt quickly pulled away from Gabby and turned around, locking eyes with Olivia. He rolled down the window and smiled. "Go home!" Olivia yelled pointing towards the road, Matt chuckling. "So I'm not allowed to kiss your mother?" "Oh you're doing a lot more then that," Olivia said turning around, running her hands up and down her back, moving her head back and forth. "Very funny little lady," Gabby replied, Olivia sighing. "Just go home, please. Diego and I would like to play soccer without being grossed out" "What's so gross about us kissing? You'll feel differently one day," Matt said, Olivia gagging. "Are you kidding me? Boys are basically a unclassified germ" "Look at you, smart mouth," Matt said, Olivia rolling her eyes. "Bye," she told them, Matt winking before pulling away, Diego emerging from the house. "They're gone?" "What does it look like retard?" Olivia asked pointing to Matt's truck as it stopped at a red light, Diego rolling his eyes, suddenly crossing his arms. "Is there any way your dad can give me kissing lessons?" Diego asked, Olivia looking at him. "Why? Finally land a girl?" Diego gave her the death stare and rolled his eyes. "Not yet, but I'm working on it""Dad," Peyton said as he knocked on the bedroom door, Sylvie pulling away from Kelly staring into his eyes. "Dad..." "What?" Kelly asked now sitting up, Sylvie quickly throwing on a shirt and climbing under the covers. Kelly got up and unlocked the door, Peyton holding a piece of paper in his hand. "I need to know about my grandfather" Kelly rubbed the back of his head and sighed. "What do you need to know about him?" "I need to know what his name is and what he worked as," Peyton replied. Kelly knelt down and looked at Peyton, placing his hand on his shoulder. "I'll tell you, but this doesn't go no further. Don't try and search him up on the web" "Dad, I won't" "Last time I told you about something I didn't want you to know about, you searched it up on the internet" "That was different. Since then I swore I would never look up something like that again," Peyton said, his face going pale.
"His name is Benjamin Severide and he was the lieutenant on squad" "Like you?" Kelly nodded his head and stood back up, Sylvie smiling. "Your grandfather is a good man. He just, has his issues" "Why haven't I met him?" Peyton asked, Sylvie shrugging. "When your dad and I feel like it's a good time to tell you, we will" Peyton nodded his head before quickly running out the room, Kelly closing the door behind him. "Will these conversations get harder to talk about?" Kelly asked as he laid back down in bed, cuddling Sylvie close. "Kelly baby, this is only the beginning"
Peyton locked his door as he walked over to his desk, turning on his computer. "Hey Peepee, what're you doing in there?" Alexa asked as she knocked on his door, Peyton sighing. "Call me Peepee again and I'll have your head," Peyton said, Alexa slamming her hand on the door making Peyton jump. "What?!" he shouted as he marched over to the door, swinging it open. "Listen, I'm going out with a couple friends" "But dad just said" "I know what dad said," Alexa replied annoyed, Peyton gulping. "That's where you come in. If mom or dad asks where I am, I need you to lie" Peyton gasped and quickly shook his head. "You know I hate lying" "If you don't do this, I'll tell Olivia that you have a huge crush on her" "You wouldn't" "Try me" Alexa crossed her arms and smirked, Peyton rolling his eyes. "What do I have to say?" "Tell them that I went to the library to get books for my project" "What if you're not home in time for dinner?!" "I will be Pey! Just make sure you don't rat me out because if you do, it'll be the last thing you ever do"
