*Next Shift*
*Truck 81, Squad 3, Battalion 25, brush fire* the dispatcher said over the radio, Matt pulling away from Gabby, rising off of the couch. "I gotta go," he told her unlocking the door and jogging out of the room, Gabby standing up and pulling a little box out her pocket, placing it on Matt's desk before walking into the kitchen, sitting next to Sylvie. "Hey, have you heard about Mills and Lilly?" Gabby asked as Sylvie looked away from the TV, shaking her head. "What about them?" "Lilly cheated and dump texted him." Sylvie's eyes widened and she shook her head back and forth. "No way" "Yes way, here's the texts" "How do you have their texts?" "I have my ways," Gabby replied as she pulled out her phone and showed Sylvie the texts, Sylvie laughing. 'Mills, I'm so sorry but I can't be with someone who still won't say I love you after ten years. I met a firefighter awhile back that works back at 56. He already told me he loves me. Once again I'm sorry... I'm dumping you," Gabby read imitating Lilly's voice, Sylvie cracking up. "What a moron," Sylvie chuckled as Gabby got a whiff of the pickle Sylvie was eating, Gabby's face turning green. "Oh God," Gabby said standing up and clutching her stomach, hobbling over to the kitchen trash can and throwing up, Sylvie walking over and rubbing her back. "Gosh Gabby are you okay?" Sylvie asked, Gabby lifting her head and nodding her head. "Yeah. I think it's just from something I ate this morning," Gabby lied, walking back over and sitting down on the couch just as the guys walked in from the fire, sweat dripping from their brow. "Hey guys, how was it?" Sylvie asked crossing her arms, Kelly walking up from behind her and kissing her cheek, the smell of smoke stinging Sylvie's nose. "It was rolling," Kelly replied walking away and sliding off his gloves, Matt walking in, a scratch on the side of his face. "Matt, what happened?" Gabby asked as she stood up and walked over, running her finger over the cut. "I ran into a stupid tree branch" "Yeah you did, because you're a blond," Kelly replied, everyone laughing expect Sylvie. "Whoa there king of the smelly apes, I'm a blond!" Sylvie exclaimed crossing her arms, Kelly gulping. "I didn't mean it that way..." "Yes you did. Well news flash for you, get your eyes checked. He's clearly a dirty blond," Sylvie replied, Gabby chuckling. Herrmann walked over to the trash can and went to throw away something when he suddenly stopped, looking up at everybody. "Okay, this is either Cruz's chili or hurl," Herrmann said as Cruz walked over, looking into the trash can. "That's definitely not my chili. What is this?" Cruz asked as Max walked into the firehouse, taking a sip of water. "What's what?" he asked walking over, looking into the trash can. "Yep, that's hurl," Max said as his face went pale, quickly walking away from the trash can, falling onto the couch next to Mouch. "What're we watching today Mouch?" Max asked, Mouch looking at him and smiling. "Today, we get to watch a cook show. Hey Cruz, come watch this with us," Mouch said, Cruz laughing. "Ha ha very funny, but I have better things to do" "Like what? Burn our food?" Max asked laughing, Mouch laughing along with him. "Watch it Max. I'll burn your food enough to where it will burn a hole in your stomach," Cruz said as he turned on the stove, Matt walking out of the room to his office, Gabby secretly following him. Matt opened his office door and sat in his chair, noticing the small box sitting on the counter, a ribbon tied around it. "Gabby..." Matt said as he smiled, opening the box. "Surprise!" Gabby exclaimed, Matt pulling out the pregnancy test speechless. "You're..." Gabby closed the door and drew the blinds, walking over to Matt and nodding her head, placing a hand on her belly. "I'm pregnant," she replied smiling, Matt standing up and wrapping his arms around Gabby, snuggling his face into her shoulder. "I'm gonna be a dad to another one?" he asked still in shock, Gabby nodding her head. "Yep" "Now that I think about it, you were the one to hurl weren't you?" "Yes I was," Gabby replied, Matt laughing. "What triggered it?" "The pickles. I'm starting to hate those things with a passion," Gabby mumbled, Matt pulling back and slowly kissing Gabby's lips, Gabby suddenly feeling the baby flutter. "Matt, I feel the baby fluttering," she said lowly, Matt placing a hand on Gabby's lower belly when Kelly opened the door, his eyes widening. "Have you ever heard of knocking?" Matt asked glaring at him, Kelly raising his hands up and shrugging. "My bad," he replied as he ran down the hall, quickly walking over to Sylvie. "Hey can I talk to you for a second" "Talk to me when you change your mind on blonds" "Sylvie this isn't funny. Cmon," he said grabbing her hand and pulling her out to the apparatus floor, both of them hopping into the squad truck. "What's going on?" she asked, Kelly leaning in and giving her a kiss, Sylvie pulling back. "Kelly, did you drag me all the way out here into the squad truck to kiss me?" "Yeah and to also change the scenery," he replied, Sylvie rolling her eyes and laughing. "What's really going on?" Kelly looked around before looking back at Sylvie, holding her hand. "I think... I think Gabby's pregnant" "What are you insane?!" Sylvie yelled, Kelly placing a finger to her lips. "Shut up..." he mumbled looking around again, Sylvie sighing. "Why do you think she's pregnant?" "Well when I walked into Matt's office, he had his hand on Gabby's belly and they were giggling and all excited," Kelly replied, Sylvie shrugging. "It could be a possibility, but I don't see why Gabby wouldn't have told me about the baby," Sylvie said, Kelly holding her close. "She's just excited that's all. The next part is going to be the hardest for them, especially for Matt" "What's the next part?" "Telling Olivia.""Oh cmon Peyton I've seen you kick harder than that cmon!" Olivia exclaimed as she sat on the sidelines at recess, Alexa walking around with her friends, running into Marcus. "Hey," Alexa said as she blushed, Marcus doing the same. "Can we talk?" she asked, Marcus nodding his head as they both walked away from their friends, Alexa leading Marcus to a bench. "We need to talk" "What's there to talk about?" Marcus asked, Alexa sighing. "The flirting, the kiss, us" "Listen Alexa, I like you and all, but your dad freaks me out. I need some space," Marcus replied walking away, leaving Alexa all alone. "Alexa!" Tensley exclaimed as she ran over, pulling Alexa into a hug. "He literally ditched me," Alexa cried, Tensley sighing. "What'd I tell ya? Boys are trouble. That's what my mom says," Tensley replied, Alexa pulling away and wiping the tears from her eyes. "Right now, I'm really wishing my dad took Marcus' hand to his chainsaw," Alexa chuckled, Tensley laughing. "There you go, stay in a happy mood. Don't act all gloomy just because some stupid boy blew you off. It's his problem, not yours," Tensley replied as they walked back over to Victoria, Olivia standing up from the ground and walking over to them, Peyton watching her leave. "Liv where're you going?!" Peyton yelled, Olivia turning and smiling. "I'll see you later!" she exclaimed reaching Alexa, Alexa glaring at her. "What do you want?" "Cash," Olivia said holding out her hand, Alexa shaking her head. "Not happening" "What if I get a mud pie all up in Marcus' face?" Olivia asked as she stuck her finger in the mud, drawing a line underneath each eye. Alexa looked at Marcus who looked away from her, laughing along with his friends. "Do it," Alexa said placing three dollars into Olivia's hand, Olivia stuffing it into her pocket. "Alright watch and learn," Olivia replied as she leaned down and put a bunch of mud in her hand. Alexa watched as Olivia stood up and smiled, Olivia sighing. "I'll probably get in a lot of trouble for this but, it's worth it," Olivia said as she walked over to Marcus, patting his shoulder. "Hey fish face!" Olivia exclaimed as Marcus turned around, Olivia slamming her hand full of mud on Marcus' face, Olivia walking away and high fiving Alexa and her friends on her way back to Peyton who stood on the side of the field laughing. "That's what you get when you mess with a Casey or Severide!" Olivia yelled to Marcus, Marcus wiping the mud off his face. "Well when you mess with a Halstead, you usually end up dead!" Marcus hollered back, Olivia's teacher grabbing her arm. "What did you do?!" the teacher yelled, Olivia shrugging. "Mrs. Farrah I did nothing wrong. I was sticking up for my family," Olivia replied, Mrs. Farrah sighing. "Go sit on the bench for five minutes. You won't be able to play until further notice," Mrs. Farrah replied pointing in the direction of the bench, Olivia sighing and walking over to it and sitting down. Peyton looked from afar and stared at Marcus, anger boiling his blood. Marcus turned and stared back at Peyton as he wiped off his face, Marcus throwing the paper towel to the ground. "What're you staring at... Peepee?" Marcus asked as he laughed, Peyton walking over and clenching his fists, Marcus crossing his arms. "Call me Peepee again and your tongue will be wrapped around that pole," Peyton told him nodding his head towards a pole, Marcus laughing. "Do you really think you scare me?" "Same goes for you," Peyton spat, Marcus rolling his eyes. "Hank Voight's my grandfather. Trudy Platt's practically my grandmother. You don't scare me," Marcus said, Peyton laughing. "Well, I have a whole house of firefighters that I consider family. I bet you can't beat that."
Max walked into the bunker room noticing Violet sitting on his bunk, smiling and walking over to her. "Hey babe what're you doing here?" he asked giving her a hug, Violet pulling back and sighing. "I don't know. I just couldn't bare spending another second without you," Violet replied as she pulled Max close, slowly kissing his lips. "Well well well is this a replay of what happened ten years ago?" Herrmann asked as he stood in the hallway, crossing his arms. "Hey Christopher," Violet said smiling, Max turning around and raising his eyebrows up at Herrmann. "Why do you always find a way to ruin the moment?" Max asked, Herrmann shrugging. "I don't know. That's my job. My ma back in the day called me nosy hermy. I guess the name still fits" "Well nosy hermy, can we have a moment... Alone?" Max asked, Herrmann sighing. "I heard the coat room is a good place to talk. Why don't you try there?" Herrmann suggested being sarcastic, Max rolling his eyes and sliding his hand into Violet's walking right past Herrmann. "Thanks, really,", Max scowled as Violet giggled, Max leading her into the coat room, Max gently closing the door. "It's nice and toasty in here," Violet said as she slid off her jacket, placing Max's fire helmet on his head. "I thought I would never say this but, you look super cute with that fire helmet on." Max smiled and caressed her arm, leaning in and kissing her passionately, Violet pulling back and placing her hands on his chest, laying her head on his shoulder. "I didn't come all the way here just to see you," she told him, Max wrapping his arms around her, not knowing what she would say next. "I came here to tell you something." Max pulled back and looked at her, watching her lips slowly tremble. "Max..." Max placed a hand on the side of her face, looking into her eyes. "Max, I'm pregnant."
