Violet sat up in Kelly's cot, rubbing her temples. "What's going on with me?" she asked herself as she threw her feet over the bed, placing a hand on her belly. "Ow, Dallas, stop kicking mommy!" she exclaimed as she stood up, rubbing both hands over her belly. The door was then suddenly opened by Max, closing it gently behind him. "Are you okay?" "How'd you get here so fast?" "I was just happening to be walking by when I heard you talking to yourself," Max said raising an eyebrow and smirking, Violet blushing. "Sorry, I tend to do that when you aren't home," Violet told him as Max walked closer and tried to wrap his arms around her, her belly getting in the way. "I wonder when these boys will come on out! I want to be able to wrap my arms around my fiancé and not be stopped by a bump," Max said as he placed his hands on Violets belly, Violet chuckling. "They'll be here before you know it. Besides, my due date is in two weeks," Violet told him as Alexa knocked on the door, Max walking over and opening it, allowing Alexa to walk in. "Uh, where's my dad? What're you doing in his office? Last time I checked this office was for Lieutenants only, not candidates," Alexa questioned as she crossed her arms, Max chuckling. "Shouldn't you be with your little boyfriend?" "Shouldn't you be doing your job?" Alexa asked with a bit of sass, Violet biting her lip. "Alright little lady. One, your dads in the conference room talking to Herrmann and two, your father allowed us in his office. Know all the facts before you go assuming something," Max snapped back, Alexa rolling her eyes. "Alright whatever Max," Alexa replied walking away, Max running over to the door. "That's Uncle Max to you!" he shouted after her as Alexa rounded the corner, Max walking back into the office, Violet shaking her head. "How does Kelly and Sylvie put up with that girl? I still remember when she was just two years old, happy as can be!" Max exclaimed, Violet shrugging. "Teenage years maybe? You're going to have to experience that with these two," Violet said replacing her hands on her belly again, Max's eyes going wide. "You mean... I'll have gray hairs by the time I'm thirty six?!" Max exclaimed as he made a frowny face, running his hands through his hair. Violet nodded laughed and reached up, pecking his cheek. "You missed," he told her as memories back from when they were twelve started to play in the back of his mind. He had said the same thing under the sycamore tree eleven years ago, a smile lighting up on Violets face. "Why don't you fix my mistake then?" Violet asked flirtatiously, Max taking advantage of the moment. He placed his hand on the side of Violets face and pulled her close, placing his lips against hers, taking control of the kiss. By the time Max pulled back Violet was breathless, Max smirking. "I've waited a long time to do that," he told her as he stroked her cheek, Violet nodding. "I love you Max," she said as she stared into his green eyes, her body getting the chills. "I love you too."
"Herrmann!" Kelly exclaimed as he paced around the room, Herrmann leaned up against the wall, his arms crossed. "Why didn't you tell me?" "I thought I'd just let you figure out on your own" "Herrmann, I counted on you to tell me things when things were brought up to your attention about my kids," Kelly said lowly, Herrmann sighing. "Severide I-" 'Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambo 61, Battalion Chief, two vehicle accident. Yellow Ridgeway Ave' the klaxon reported, Herrmann shrugging as Kelly angrily walked out of the room, Herrmann following after him. "You ready?" Matt asked Kelly as he put on his fire helmet, Kelly shrugging. "Why wouldn't I be?" "It looks like you got a lot on your mind," Matt replied as he opened the door to the buggy, Olivia running over, her coat in hand. "Dad can I come?" Olivia asked, Matt shrugging. "I don't see why not, hop in. Oh yeah Mouch!" Matt shouted as he looked at Mouch who was about to hop into truck 81, getting his attention. "You're sitting out on this one. I need you to watch the firehouse and Paul until we get back" "That's fine with me chief! The couch is calling my name!" Mouch said hopping down from the truck, Truck 81 speeding away. Matt raised an eyebrow at Mouch, Mouch sighing. "I meant the baby monitor and couch are calling my name," Mouch sighed, Matt smiling. "That sounds better," he replied as the Ambo rolled out of the firehouse, Matt nodding to Olivia as they both got into the buggy. Just as Matt was starting to back out, Peyton ran out to the apparatus floor, waving his hands like crazy. "Dad stop the car!" "What why?" Matt asked as he halted the car, Olivia opening the door and standing up. "Guys come quick! Something's wrong with Paul! He's shaking really bad!" Peyton yelled as he ran back into the firehouse, Olivia now running after Peyton, Matt putting the car in park. "What's going on?!" Matt called out to Olivia as he slammed the car door closed, Olivia turning around, a worried look on her face. "Peyton said Paul is shaking really bad!" she shouted as she ran into the firehouse, Matt now hot on her heels. "Talk to me Mouch," Matt said calmly as he reached down, holding his son in his arms. "I... I don't know. I went to go reach for the remote when the kid started to scream!" Mouch exclaimed as a crowd gathered around them, Matt feeling Paul's feet. "He's as cold as a chunk of ice," Matt mumbled as he quickly handed Paul to Olivia who was waiting with open arms, running through the hallway to his office, quickly pulling out a warm blanket and some socks. As he was making his way back over to them, he ran into Tensley. "Tensley, what're you doing here?" "My mom said it'd be safer for me to stay here rather than back at the apartment," Tensley replied as she shrugged, Matt nodding his head. "Well, I'm pretty sure Alexa will be happy to see you," Matt said with a smile as he placed a hand on her shoulder, quickly making his way back over to Olivia, Peyton helping Matt slide the socks onto Paul's feet, Matt taking him from Olivia and wrapping him in the blanket. "There.. All we need to do now is make sure he stays warm, monitor his temperature," Matt told everyone relieved, Mouch nodding his head. "Thank goodness. I was starting to worry that I broke him" "You can't break a baby," Peyton laughed, Olivia shaking her head. "It is possible," she told him, Peyton looking at her with his blue eyes wide. "How?" "You can break a baby by dropping them. If you drop him, he can die on impact," Olivia explained, Peyton biting his lip. "Oh then, forget what I said," he replied nervously walking away, Olivia watching him leave."Alright what do we got here?" Severide asked as he walked towards the cars fixing his gloves, a police officer walking over and walking beside him. "The pedestrian in the blue suburban was hit by a drunk driver. We were already able to get the drunk out of here and to the hospital, but not the victim. That's where you heroes come in," the police officer told him as Kelly looked at him before ducking underneath the yellow tape, walking over to the car. "Ma'am, can you hear me?" "Help my legs are pinned!" the woman cried just as Gabby and Sylvie rushed over with the medical bag, Gabby leaning in. "Hi ma'am what's your name?" Gabby asked as she slid on gloves, pulling out a C collar. "Stephanie," she cried, Sylvie grabbing Kelly by his shoulder and leading him a few feet away from the car, shaking her head. "When you guys do this rescue, you HAVE to be careful. One wrong move and this lady will bleed out to death. By the looks of things, her legs are crushed and she might have a spinal injury" "You got all of that by just a look?" Kelly asked her as Max walked over with the jaws of life, Herrmann following him. "Yeah, she's in pretty bad shape," Sylvie replied as they walked back over, Kelly tapping Max's shoulder. "Hey, let me handle this one," Kelly told him, Max looking up and shaking his head. "Kelly, I got it" "Max you don't understand..." "I didn't go to the academy for nothing. Now stand back and let me do my job," Max sternly said, Kelly holding his hands up and backing away just as Max started to get to work, the jaws of life opening the door. "Good job candidate. Now stand back and let squad finish up here," Herrmann ordered as Max nodded and walked away, placing the jaws of life back in the trucks compartment. "I can't feel my legs!" Stephanie screamed, Kelly immediately walking over and placing a hand on the woman's shoulder, Stephanie pouting. "Ma'am, I'm going to need you to stay strong," Kelly coaxed, Gabby looking around and not seeing the battalion chief car anywhere. "Hey Sylvie, where's Matt?" Gabby asked, Sylvie looking around and shrugging. "I don't know, but he's not here," she replied as Gabby placed the radio close to her lips. "Main, this is ambo 61 requesting the whereabouts of Battalion 25?" Gabby asked, waiting for an answer. "Battalion 25 is still at Firehouse 51" "Thank you main," Gabby said as she moved the radio away from her lips, suddenly getting nervous. Sylvie noticed this right away and confronted her friend as they waited for the victim, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Is everything okay?" Gabby looked at Sylvie and shrugged, not knowing what to say. "It's not like Matt to miss a call... He's never missed one. Even when he was sick he'd find an excuse to come and make sure everything's handled correctly" "Maybe he just got held up?" "I don't know Sylvie, I'm worried" "Don't worry, everything will be fine" "You really think so?" Gabby asked, Sylvie nodding. "Yeah plus like you said, Casey makes sure everything's handled correctly. All you gotta do now is have a little faith in that."
