I stepped into the cabin with relief. This meant summer was actually here. Summer doesn't actually start until your first vacation no matter how far away they are from home. Just my opinion. Jack came in with his bags.

"Your room is upstairs and to the left. It's basically like a huge loft with a wall between the two sides. The other side is mine. Downstairs is where my grandparents are staying. They'll be here in about two hours. I'll work on getting the kitchen set up for my grandma. Could you take these upstairs?" He motioned towards the bags he had brought in. There weren't much it was only a suitcase and a duffel bag same as me but it just looked heavy.

"The suitcase has a handle you know." He noticed my staring at the potentially heavy bag.

"I knew that." I joked. He laughed and went back to setting pots and pans in cupboards. I guess his grandma liked it a certain way. I made my way up the wooden thick stairs. Jack was right it was like a loft. Except everything was wooden not cement. There was a big queen bed on the left and the same on the right. There was a wall separating the two into rooms but there was only a sliding door to close it off. The stairs were on my side of the room. And only a small walkway to get up into the room. I heaved my bag up onto my side and slid his duffel bag through the railing onto the right side. I had to walk up the rest of the stairs to set the suitcase down. The front part of the cabin was completely glass. So I could see the forest for miles. I put my bag on the bed and went back downstairs to help Jack with whatever I could. He told me to turn on the TV to a certain channel which turned out to be a radio channel. The song changed to Skinny Love by Sia. At first I started humming it but then I couldn't help myself and started singing. I didn't notice at first but Jack had stopped his clanking noises and listened. The song finished out and I realised I had sung that at full effort.

"Your voice is amazing." He said with an open mouth. Instead of the nice thank you I normally would have responded with, Jack and I were friends now so I responded like a friend would.

"Close your mouth or you'll catch flies." I teased.

"You really are good at singing." Jack said smiling from the the kitchen. I continued to sing until it changed to another song. I started dancing unknowingly getting lost in the moment. When I finished and opened my eyes Jack was staring and chuckling lowly.

"But you are not a very good dancer." He joked. I smiled.

"Rodney! Get the other bag, will you? Thank you dear! Wait, no, not that one the green one!" A female voice shouted from outside. It sounded like it had not been used for yelling in a long time. A stout lady waddled in with the aroma of fresh bread and snicker doodles. I like snicker doodles.

"Jack! Jackson, dear!" She yelled.

"Granny, I'm right here. You don't have to yell." Jack laughed.

"Oh sorry dearie it's just with Grandpa's hearing aid going out lately I've been used to yelling." She said lovingly. She turned around to face me. "Hello, who might you be?" She smiled. Please tell me this was his fathers mother because if it was his moms I would laugh in his face.

"I'm Eleanor, Jack's friend. But you can call me Elle or Ellie." I explain. Instead of shaking my hand she brings me in for a hug. She looks about 5 foot so it's not that hard to bend down at my 5'4" height.

"I'm Mary and you can call me Granny or Grandma M." She smiled. I love this lady.

"Granny will be fine." I answer. A balding man comes tumbling in with at least five bags. He wasn't skinny but he was just as tall as Jack.

"And this is my husband, Rodney, you can call him Rod or Gramps." She waddled over to Rodney.

"What'd you say?" Rodney yells.
