Chapter 3

'Love, Mom'

I shot up, pushing the idiot away from me and wiping at my mouth. I glared at his shocked face.

"The ONLY reason I even agreed to let you be in my home for a moment longer was because I saw how amazingly happy my father looked. God, then you gave Ethen the Legos I thought it would be fine. We would be fine and you kiss me? Really?" I asked trying to keep my nerves down. He just stared at me wide eyed.

"Really? The thought of going to prom doesn't get you at least a little gidy? Especially with me. Lots of girls would kill for this." He cocked a sly grin. I chucked.

"You really don't know how conceded you are do you?" I asked mimicking him from earlier.  He huffed and I sighed.

"Just tell me the truth." I looked over to him and his eyes went cold.

"There isn't a truth to tell. You're beautiful and I want you to accompany me to prom." He grinned.

"You are so lucky I love my family. You have, astonishingly, pleased them both of them in one day so the least I feel i should do is, I guess go to prom. Even if it has to be with you." I rubbed my face a just sat on the ground.  He plopped down next to me.

"Come on you know it'll be fun. Even if you don't want it to be." I just looked at Danny for a moment then put my head in my hands. This was going to be stressful.

Dinner came and went as well as Danny so I was left to tuck Ethen in bed. We practically had to rip him from a fantastic castle he was building. He looked over to me and smiled. He was snuggled up in bed under his Cars comforter.

"I love you Mel. I like Danny too." I couldn't help but let a smile spread across my face.

"I love you too little man. Sleep well alright? You know where I'm at if you need me okay?" I said quietly kissing his fore head and ruffling his hair a bit. I flipped the lamp off and tucked his covers up kissing him one more time before tip toeing away. I met my dad at the kitchen table as he finished picking up Legos, aside from the castle of course. I sat down with him once he was finished and he leaned back. I ran a hand threw my waves of hair as he smiled.

"So you like this boy eh?" he asked finally breaking the silence. I sighed.

"Yeah I guess you could call it that. He asked today at lunch. He made a huge deal out of it and got everyone's attention. It was sweet, I just couldn't say no."

Lies.

I hated lying. It was a twisted thing that always found a way to come back and get you. Absolutely nothing good came of it but I could not break my fathers heart. His smile widened and he stood.

"I have something to show you." He said as he walked away. I stayed seated and he came back moments later with what looked like a photo album. He sat across from me and slid it across to me. He motioned for me to open it. I flipped open the old, black book with 'Memories' in pretty white writing written across it for me to be met with my mom and dads wedding. My hand flew to my mouth at the beauty that was my mother. We had pictures up but I had never seen these before. I flipped the page to find a letter. I looked up to my dad with water eyes that seemed to match his perfectly.

"This is for you. Goodnight sweetheart." He stood kissing the top of my head before making his way to the stairs. I looked down at book once again closing it making my way to my room after turning of the lights and grabbing a glass of water.

I sat on my floor with music playing softly from my laptop, my pajamas on as I looked down at the book. I flipped it open up again back to the envelope. I slid it out of its sleeve to reveal my mom with an extreme pregnant belly and I couldn't help but chuckle. Underneath in sliver said 'one hour before you were born' I smiled and touched the picture. I looked back to the sealed letter and flipped it. On the back it said 'for your first boyfriend'. I couldn't help but smile as I began to open the letter.
