 Chapter 35

I swear every time our lips touch, I can taste the next 60 years of my life. -Rudy Francisco

*One Year Later*

Melanie's P.O.V.

"Babe, would you please stop this madness already." Danny stated from the passenger seat. I chuckled and rested my hand on his leg as I pulled down the street of trees before the apartment. He was blindfolded and I couldn't help but to think back to when Danny first asked me to move in, oh how the tables have turned. One year today and this was my surprise for him. This day last year was the day I was officially moved in.

"Nope, you get a surprise and if you can't roll with that, well, sucks to suck." I said with a shrug even though he couldn't see me. A grin laced his lips with a small chuckled and he rested his head back on to the head rest.

"Fine, whatever." He said crossing his arms. I scuffed, what a baby.

"I promise it's worth it if that changes anything." I said. He turned his head to the side ignoring me and I rolled my eyes. He'll live. I had Adam drop him off not too long ago and was happy to get a picture of him on the couch.

I pulled into the complex and parked in my spot right next to Danny's car and shut it off.

"Alright, we're home. I'll come to your side and help you out." I said grabbing my purse, I was about to open the door to get out when Danny scuffed.

"I can do it myself." I chuckled this time.

"And risk scratching Mrs. Blooming's car? I'd like to see that." I said getting out and slamming my door. Mrs. Blooming was our neighbor who was kind of senile old women. She was widowed and worked all her life so I guess she had reason to be. But nothing came between her and her car and she made that damn clear the day she moved in two months ago. I was pleased to find Danny's door untouched but laughed to myself since she wasn't even here. I was hilarious. I opened his door wide so he could step out and he immediately unlatched my hand and felt for a car.

"You suck." He groaned as I laughed once again.

"Come on, loser let's get upstairs for the surprise." I said taking his hand. I led us carefully to the elevator after locking the car and we made our way up.

"So why did I have to be blind folded if the surprise was home?" He asked as we made our way to the front door. I untied the ribbon letting him see once again and grinned.

"The aesthetic." I said chuckling. He rolled his eyes adjusting to the light but wrapped an arm around my waist.

"Can we go inside now?" He asked going for the door. Happily it was locked and I held up the key with a grin. I stepped out of his tight grip and quietly unlocked the door and pushed it open as softly as I could. I was pleased with silence. I put my purse on the barstool and pulled Danny in shutting the door loudly. Nails on the hard wood floor rang through and the five month old Border Collie with blue eyes and one grey ear came rushing in. Danny lit up and dropped to his knees.
