See you in a few
Chapter 8
I glanced down, my dress looked good as ever and all eyes were on me as I entered the hotel for Prom. It was just me vs. the rest of the school. I made my way to the center of the room. Each click of my heels echoing through the room and my hallow chest. Danny stepped forward and reached out a hand. My own hand grasped it before I could really even process it.
"Let's dance." He said in a low husky tone. My head nodded. His left arm slid around my waist pulling me right into him. I tried to inch away but my body just wasn't listening. I sighed and gave up, allowing myself my be plastered to him by his arm. We danced slowly to some song I didn't recognize, everyone watching every move we made.
Every. Single. Move.
His grip still tight on my waist, he lowered his lips down to my ear.
"You look absolutely ravishing." He whispered breathlessly. My lips formed into a small grin.
"Why thank you." I whispered back. He stepped away and smiled, keeping a grasp on my hand we made our way to a small stage. No one's eyes seemed to leave us. My nerves were finally kicking in as Danny stepped up to the mic.
"Hello everyone." He paused as a small cheer rang through. " I'd like to welcome my, uh, lovely prom date with a surprise tonight." Fear shot through me as he lifted the mic and came to stand beside me; he had one hell of a sly smirk plastered.
"Now Melanie, I have been keeping a secret from you. How to put this...I don't really like to much. To be honest, I think you' re, well, kind of gross. More or less disturbing to the eye." I gasp as laughter made its way over the crowd. I looked to Danny who had his nose scrunched up, he stepped a couple of feet away.
"Oh, and that's a great dress you got there. I'm pretty sure you'd look better in some color though." My faced was heated with embarrassment, but before I could react I was covered in something gooey and cold. Hot pink paint. I wiped at my eyes and was met with everyone dying of laughter.
"Darn it Phil, I thought some one told you to be a little more careful than that." Danny said looking up trying to not bust out laughing. My eyes pooled with tears.
"Alright, alright. Let's shine some light on the occasion shall we? How can we make this a little better, hm?" I was about to bolt off stage Danny aimed a big bucket at me. I shut my eyes and turned away but it was too late. I didn't want to open my eyes so I just listened.
"Piggy. Piggy. Piggy." The tears came down my face the best they could through the paint. I finally opened my eyes and looked down. I was covered in paint with pork rinds stuck to me. I faced Danny with tears cleansing my face of paint from being so heavy. He just smirked.
"Piggy. Piggy. Piggy." He whispered into the mic. I couldn't take it anymore and ran off stage. My dreadful heals hit a patch of paint and I hit the floor.
I sat up, grasping at my chest for fresh air. I threw the covers off of me and searched for the light. Once it was on I wiped my face and knelt over putting my head in my hands. I couldn't help the tears that fell from my eyes. I tried to calm down as I watched them hit the floor. One by one, finally creating a small puddle. After a few minutes I sat up and wiped at my face again. I flipped my hair and put it all in a pony tail. I tried to breath but I could barely smell. Oh well. I stood up and grabbed my sweater. I slid it on and wrapped it tight around my body. I glanced over to the clock.
3:45.
Jee, thanks for dinner dad. I quietly made my way down stairs to the kitchen. I opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water taking a couple gulps. I sighed in relief and shut the door. On the door was a note. I removed the magnet and took the note.
