Ouch! I looked behind me at the pile of bikers that fell. We had set out for an enjoyable bike riding trip at 4am to keep ourselves occupied. The party had gotten boring and we all vowed to stay awake all night. Who had come up with this idea? Yeah, that was me. Once Jeremy fell in front of me, we all went down like dominoes. Twelve people tangled in bikes. What a sight.
I was still struggling when Nicola came to help me detangle myself.
"Are you okay Hannah? Oh my gosh, you're bleeding! Jeremy!" Nicola yelled.
Jeremy was my one and only brother. He and I were the best of friends and the worst of enemies, but he always had my back. We grew up in the typical suburban neighborhood. We were what is considered normal here in Hamilton. Our small town was the perfect location to raise a family. When our parents moved here, I was only three months old. Jeremy on the other hand was three. He says he remembers the hussle and bussle from the city life my parents used to live, but I don't believe him. Hamilton was, is, and always will be home.
Jeremy strolled over to my disgruntled body and leaned down to inspect my injuries. "Well, you don't need stitches. Come on, I'll help you up."
As he tried to lift me, the bike fell from between my legs and freed me of my uncomfortable position. The gash in my leg proved to be the only injury aquired by anyone. My bad luck never seems to run out.
"Here I'll help," sighed Martin. The reason he was here is unknown. He was invited to the party but I never believed he would show up. He mostly kept to himself.
"Hey, it's okay," he whispered when he saw my tears.
"I'm fine. I can walk on my own," I pushed away from the sympathy in his eyes. No one has seen me cry. I don't make it a habit if showing weakness. I hated feeling weak. Ever since I got out of grade school, I learned to be strong. I put my walls up around my heart and never let anyone see me when I was down. Except of course for Jeremy. I used to crawl into his bed when I had nightmares and he willingly let me take all the covers just to know I was comforted.
Nicola caught up with me. Her and I had been like sisters since gymnastics when we were three. I noticed her bright red hair immediately. She is a natural red head with blue eyes. Still to this day I envy her beauty. She was my first real friend here in Hamilton.
"Hey, you took a nasty fall. Slow down," She nudged my ribs.
"You know nothing can keep me down," I smirked and nudged her back, my face now free of tears.
"You really should have your mom check that though."
"Nah, I was gonna let sit until it starts oozing a nasty green liquid."
"Ew! Don't be so crude!" She slapped my arm.
"Then don't make stupid comments," I smirked. My mom was the head doctor at the Hamilton Family Hosptial. "Be safe. Be wise" was her saying ever since I was little.
"Jack suggested going to the diner. Do you think you can make it?"
"Nic, I fell of my bike, not a cliff. I'm always up for food. French fries, here I come."
We both giggled. All my friends knew that my love for french fries was unhealthy. Jack, being the sweetheart he was, always bought me my first round.
Once we reached the twenty four hour diner, we took two seperate booths. Jeremy and his friends- Shae, Marcus, Dustin, and Lily- took their usual booth toward the back. My friends and I prefered the front. Nicola went in first and ushered me to sit while Jack sat on the other side. Maria, Chase, and Luke sat on the opposite side of us.
