Aaron's kiss was hard and wet, but his lips were soft. I hadn't been kissed this forcefully in a long time. He grasped my left cheek and moved his hand down until it rested in the crook of my neck, pulling me closer. I felt as though I could not get close enough. My arms moved around him until I touched his back. Our lips moved in sync as if we had been kissing for ages. Aaron eventually pulled away so we could catch our breath. His forehead rested on mine as he stared at the ground. I took this opportunity to study every inch of his face. His blonde curls were kept in tact for the most part, except for two stray curls that hung over his brow. His lips hung open as he breathed. His eyelashes were longer than mine, and most girls for that matter. There was not a blemish anywhere upon his porcelain skin. His hand had moved back to the bark of the tree behind me. The only part of his body touching me was his forehead. Not even his eyes graced me with a touch. We had just been so close and now it felt we couldn't be farther apart. All I wanted is for him to look at me.

Eventually my wish was granted. He pulled away and looked up at me with a smirk plastered across his full lips.

"You can pull your jaw back up from the ground, sweetheart," he said as he lifted my chin with his index finger.

"Oh, yeah" I mumbled and looked at the ground. We stood there in silence as I contemplated what to say next.

"Why- why did you do that?" I stuttered.

"Well ya see, I wanted to, so I did." His southern accent held every word he said up on a pedestal. I stared at him until he leaned in once more. I closed my eyes in anticipation.

"Is this okay?" His breathe hit my lips.

"Yes," I breathed, but before I could fully say the word his lips were back on mine in a swift, harsh kiss.

"Let's go," he chuckled and took my hand in his.

I was glad to see no one had noticed my disappearance because I was not ready to collectively tell the group of Aaron's harsh assault in the woods behind our principal's house. We all snuck out of the neighborhood the way we came. Aaron dropped my hand once we reached town.

"I'm going to head home. See you!" Aaron called as he turned and left. The group waved and said goodbye, including me.

"You may think you went unnoticed, but you're wrong," Jack whispered in my ear. "We need to talk, love." He wore a mischievous smile.

"Eh, maybe." He scoffed at me and threw his arm around my shoulder as the group dispersed. Jeremy and Shae left with their group if friends and I left with mine.

"Its only 12:39am. What do we do now?" asked Chase.

"There's a football party," Maria announced.

"Yes! Let's go," Luke exclaimed.

"You need to get out more," we all laughed and headed to the main neighborhood. The houses stood close together but taller than most. Parties were held here because the backyards extended farther than any other properties, except for mine. My house would be the ideal house for a party. But my mother gets upset if there is a wrinkle in my bed sheets because it looks "untidy". I couldn't imagine her being okay with a whole house of untidy high schoolers tearing it to shreads.

I could hear the base pounding before I saw the house. We turned the corner and saw the lights and red Solo cups. Everyone out front had a cigarette between their fingers. We walked around to the side door to enter without getting drenched in the scent of smoke. The inside of the house was packed. There were people dancing in the living room underneath the tall ceilings so there was more air to breathe. I went straight for the snack table with Jack. Every party we go to, there is the same selection of cheap snacks. The usual Chex Mix, pretzels, and popcorn are laid out for people with the munchies. Jack grabbed a plate and threw something of everything on it. I looked behind me to find that Maria and Chase were already dancing in the middle of the crowd to "Hotline Bling".

"Wanna go outside?" Jack shouted into my ear. I nodded and took his hand. We sat on the patio furniture and watched our classmates stumble around to the keg, trying to get more of the cheap beer. I had only ever drank once and that had ended in volcanic puking the next day as well as a loss in appetite. That was the last time I dabbled in any of that nonsense.

Jack and I were laughing at a girl puking on one of the football players variety jackets when I realized we were out of food.

"Come on, let's get more food." Jack nodded still chuckling and led me into the house. I dropped the plate when we got in and I heard the song that was on.

"Oh no." Jack whined.

"Let's dance!"

"No!" I dragged him by the wrist to the middle of the dance floor. "Hannah, I hate dancing."

"Oh come on. Just SHUT UP AND DANCE WITH ME!" I sang along with the song while dancing in a circle. I tried to get Jack to twirl me by grabbing his hand. He soon laughed and caved. The whole living room was jumping and singing along. Jack and I sang to each other and acted out the lyrics.

"DON'T YOU DARE LOOK BACK JUST KEEP YOUR EYES ON ME," He grabbed my face with both hands and stared into my eyes with a crazy look. We both erupted in laughter and continued to dance. Once the song had ended we were both drenched in sweat with large smiles on our faces. Jack's facial expression fell just as I felt an arm come around my waist.

"Didn't know you were coming here babe," I felt hot breath in my ear and a body against my back.
