I woke up with a start when my alarm went off. It was Friday. Fridays declared the weekend ahead, and for me, it was going to be interesting. I jumped out of bed and grabbed a towel for my shower. The mirror was not my friend in the morning. My caramel brown hair stuck up at different angles and my eyeliner was smeared from the day before. I really should start taking off my makeup before I go to bed at night.

The warm water relaxed my tense muscles from sleeping curled up in a ball. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped myself in a towel. As I walked out to my bedroom to pick out an outfit, I heard my phone ring. I scrambled to answer it before it stopped ringing.

"Hello," I answered on the third ring.

"Hey girl!" Maria squealed from the other end of the line.

"What's up, Maria?"

"Want a ride to school today? I had to drop my little brother off at day care, so I will be passing by your house."

"Yeah, that sounds great. Thanks."

"See you in a bit. Don't keep me waiting though. My outfit is on point, and I want to get to school early so I can catch Chase before first period."

"Yeah yeah." I hung up. Chase and Maria had a thing going for a couple months now. She tried to impress him at every corner.

I dressed in a simple t-shirt and jeans that made my butt look cute. I grabbed a granola bar on my way out and waited on the front porch for Maria to arrive. I took out my phone to scroll through Instagram. I accidentally clicked my message app and noticed that I never responded to Martin's text message. I decided on send him a quick reply so he didn't think I was mad.

It's alright. Sorry I was busy last night. Are you in for this weekend?

-Hannah

His reply came almost instantaneously.

It's okay. And I don't think so, I might just hang out with Jeremy.

-Martin

I don't know why, but I was oddly disappointed I his answer. I wanted him there. Before I could think to hard about it, Maria had sped into my long driveway. I climbed in her car and buckled my seat belt tightly around me.

"Hey, mind driving the speed limit today?" I held onto the handle by the window and she sped out of the driveway and onto the street.

"That's no fun." She smiled and pressed on the gas pedal. There weren't many times that I would ride with Maria because I was not fond of the panic attacks her driving caused me. She loved to roll down the windows and speed across town. She says it gives her a sense 'freedom', whatever that means. It was down right terrifying for any passenger.

We arrived at the school in one peice. I slowly pried my hand off of the handle and climbed out of the car.

"Dang girl, you weren't lying about your outfit." I said once Maria circled the car to join me in our walk I to the school. She wore an elegant camisole with a sweater unbuttoned halfway, along with the cutest skinny jeans I had ever seen. To top off the outfit, she wore her silver sandals. They were a personal favorite of mine.

"Oh I know." She smirked as she looped her arm into mine. I spotted Chase as soon as we walked into school. He stood with his back against the lockers, taking to Luke and Nicola. I saw Chase eyeing Maria as we approached.

Luke whistled at Maria to which she responded with sticking her tongue out.

"Classy," Nicola laughed. "Hey Hannah Banana."
