"They finally fell asleep" Leo nods toward both of you from his spot on the armchair.
Donnie looks down, barely noticing the movie playing in the TV. Some old monster movie—one of Mikey's picks. His eyes land on you, a small smile forming.
"Yeah. Knocked out" He brushes a thumb lightly over your hair. "Took a while"
"Man, poor MC" Mikey twirls a nunchuck slowly around one finger. "Psychic powers or not, what happened today sounds super scary"
"Yeah" Leo hums thoughtfully. "What they went through with that helicopter... it would shake anyone"
"They think something's wrong with them—the headaches, the way they feel things before they happen" Donnie's smile fades a little. "They're terrified it means something bad"
"MC's strong" Raph mutters, arms crossed, his gaze not quite meeting the others'. "They just need time"
Leo nods in agreement. "And support. Which they've got"
There's a pause, peaceful, until Mikey's eyes light up.
"Oh! Can we talk about your awesome new bo staff now? That thing was like — ZZZZT! WHAM! FWOOSH! During that Kraang fight!"
"Yeah" Raph says, raising a brow. "That wasn't your usual stick"
Donnie perks up, just a little. Carefully, so as not to jostle you, he reaches for the new weapon propped against the arm of the couch.
"That's your new toy?" Leo grins.
"My bo staff" Donnie corrects, and there's a gleam in his eyes that only tech and MC can put there. "Grade 5 titanium alloy—super strong, but still light enough for rapid rotation. It's got a retractable design using a twist-lock telescopic core, so I can collapse it down and carry it more easily. The flashlight mode is embedded in the top cap here—" He flicks a tiny switch, and a narrow beam of light glows from one end, "—and there's a stun mode at the opposite end. Taser prongs. Charges via kinetic energy from impacts. So technically, the more I hit, the more it charges. It's—"
"—Genius" Raph finishes for him, rolling his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, we get it"
"Oooohhh" Mikey breathes. "Electro-smacky!"
"Impressive" Leo admits, folding his arms. "Did you build that already, or—?"
"Actually... MC gave it to me"
That gets all three brothers' attention immediately.
Leo smirks. "They did, huh?" Blue leans forward, resting his elbow on one knee. "They told me they were making you a new bo staff, but never mentioned it would be a custom one"
Donnie shrugs, but the pink rising in his cheeks betrays how proud he feels.
"Said I needed something better... they've been working on it for months"
Mikey clutches his chest. "Dude, that's sooooo romantic!"
Donnie stiffens, looking down at you, as if to check if you heard anything.
"What? No! I mean—well—I—"
"You gotta admit, Donnie--" Leo mirks. "It's kinda nice seeing you like this. You're... happy"
Donnie tries to look anywhere but at his brothers.
"I'm just grateful" He mumbles, glancing down again. "They didn't have to do that. They just... get me"
