Thanos' Daughter

Chapter 1

"It seems you are enjoying watching the show. What did I miss while I was gone?"

I whirled around to see Hesper, the closest thing to a friend I've ever had. I don't really think of him as a friend, just a guy that I occasionally hang out with, nothing more.

"Hey, you almost missed all the excitement. Thanos brought in the Other for this mission. He's also got that Asgardian prince, Loki, in on whatever he's planning. "

"V, you're practically drooling. Calm down and don't get so excited. It's just one god, what's the big deal? It's not like you like him or anything. He's just another stupid prince with a wannabe warrior attitude who'll turn tail and run the second he gets anywhere near the danger." Hesper is the only one that I allow to call me V. It started as a joke back when I was little.

One day, at school, Hesper showed up out of the blue. He was found by a scouting party on a small asteroid a few light years away from my home. He was brought back and put into school to prepare him to be trained as a soldier in my father's army. Once he arrived for some reason he singled me out and immediately started pestering me. I got so pissed with him that I ended up punching him and giving him a black eye.

He said that because I was so violent that he'd call me V in honor of my anger. Plus he said that the name Savre was too hard to pronounce. He was young and had a slight lisp. After that we'd actually started to become pretty good acquaintances. We had been seven and those years seem so far gone. That was around two millenniums ago.

Hesper knows more about me than most people; he know who my parents were, mainly who my father is. Thanos hasn't advertised the fact that I'm his flesh and blood. Sometimes I think he's embarrassed of me, but he claims that it's because he doesn't want anyone to see that I am his weakness.

"So why are you so interested in this prince?" Hesper peaked over my shoulder.

I turned back to him "Do you remember when I went to Asgard last year? I told you that I met a man there and he's why I came back with a damaged wing. Well that little prince down there is the man who kicked my ass."

"So that's who defeated the mighty V. Damn he sure doesn't look like he'd be able to take you down. He looks like he's used to reading books and lounging around a palace, not fighting. What is your father planning on doing with him?" he sounded curious and a bit irritated, as if he didn't like the prince being around Thanos.

"Will you shut up? If anyone finds out about that Thanos and I are related it could lead to a bunch of shit that I really don't want to deal with. You promised you'd never speak about it. That included blurting it out in the open where anyone can hear you."

Hesper shrugged unapologetically.

I watched from behind one of the pillars in my father's throne room as Loki knelt down in front of my father. The Other handed the god a gold and blue scepter, which Loki grasped eagerly. He looked over the scepter with an expression of pure exhilaration. I remembered how he came to my home, beaten, and scared.

He had fallen off of the Bifrost into this dark moon and met his new master. Father had offered him the one thing he had been craving his entire life, the chance to rule as a king. Granted it was over humans but a ruler was still a ruler, no matter the location. Both Thanos and I knew that Loki wanted to prove to his father that he really could be a great ruler even though he was a Jotun. He wanted his father to be proud of him and my father had offered him that chance.

"And the humans; what can they do but burn?" the Other turned to smile darkly at Thanos who nodded.

Thanos glided off his throne and down towards Loki. The purple titian stopped a few steps above Loki so he was taller than the Jotun. "You will rule the human world by yourself, but you will not conquer it by yourself. I have assigned you a master while you are on Midgard. You will follow your master's orders as if they were my orders. You will follow them without question and any mishaps will be reported to me and dealt with. Do you understand Laufyson?"
