Loki stared at me with a mixture of anger and confusion playing across his face. "What is so funny about any of that?"
"God, it's just that you're whining about nothing. Your life was perfect even after you found out you weren't an Asgardian. You threw away a perfectly loving and happy family for what? Vengeance against them for caring about you? Or was it that you were throwing a temper tantrum because you wouldn't get to rule Asgard? Either way, you're a fool."

Loki stormed forward. "What right do you have to judge me? I bet you've had a much easier life than me."
"You got to live the life of a royal. Whether you were on Asgard, or Jotunheim, you were royalty. At least you had a caring family growing up regardless of whether they were your blood relatives. I didn't have that. Not a day goes by when I don't have fight someone, or work hardest at something or even kill the fastest to get what I want. All of your complaints about ruling are meaningless. You haven't known true hardship; you've just dealt with the little spats."

"Alright, you mewling quim, if you think your life is so much harder than mine, pray tell what is so difficult. I'm simply dying to know." Loki found a crate and sat down, stretching out his legs. Seated that way, with his scepter in his hand, Loki did give off an air of royalty.

I stifled a laugh, knowing that I was royalty too, yet from the way I acted, Loki would never be able to tell. It was amusing knowing that I could deceive the God of Lies. "While you were taken out of a potentially bad situation, I was born into one. My mother was captured while on a mission for the ruler of Valhalla. Yes it is a real place, but it's not like the humans concept of Heaven. It's more of a sanctuary for warrior who were fatally injured to recover and spend the rest of their days on this planet called Valhalla. They don't have to die and cross over to gain entrance, just show that they have a pure heart and that they were honorable. My mother was sent to investigate a sudden disappearance of some of the Valkyries. She was captured by a group of my King's soldiers. They presented her to Thanos as a gift and he threw her to the guards to play with. They tortured her for days, toying with her, beating her, and abusing her, mentally and physically." I broke off, looking away.

Loki filled in where I left off. "They raped her didn't they?"

"Yes." I nodded. "She was rescued by other warriors of Valhalla, but she left not knowing that she carried something else with her. When she found out she was pregnant with me, my mother panicked. In Valhalla, only the pure and untainted are allowed to live there. Since my mother was tainted, she had to decide whether to keep me and be forced out of Valhalla, or abandon me and be cleansed and allowed back inside the planet. You can guess what she chose." I caught a glimpse of the shock written on Loki's face. I hated that I had to tell him all this personal information, but he needed a reality check about his situation's severity.

"What did she do with you? After she gave you up that is."
"She left me on the Dark Moon for Thanos to find."

"Why Thanos? He didn't rape her so why did she leave you with him?"

I mentally cursed as I realized that it didn't really make sense for Thanos to take me in if he wasn't my father in my story. I needed to come up with something reasonable fast, or else I could blow my whole story. "She was under the custody of Thanos at the time I was created, so she figured that I should be his burden. Thanos raised me with his other adopted children and we learned from the best teachers on the Dark Moon."
"So these teachers taught you everything you know?"

     I nodded.

"What about your mother? Did you ever see her again?"
"No, I decided that if she cared so little about me to abandon me with a complete stranger, than I wanted nothing to do with her. I don't even know her name. Nor my father's for that matter. My king told me he died in battle not long after I was brought to the planet. Do you see now why you had such an easy life? I'm the child of a rape victim. I've had to fight to be dominant over everyone else on the Dark Moon, not to mention working my way up to Commander of Thanos's armies. That takes skill, and patience, and a hell-of-a-lot of hard work. Hard work that you don't seem to mention doing ever."
Loki was silent.

I tried not to feel slightly victorious, but I couldn't help the tiny feeling of pride. I had told the story of my birth without revealing my father's real identity, lied to the God of Lies and gotten away with it, and shown Loki that he wasn't as neglected as he seemed to think he was.

     "I'm sorry."
I spun around to face him. "What did you just say?"

"I said I'm sorry. I'm sorry for how I acted earlier when I attacked you for calling me that name, and for assuming that my life was worse than yours." He bowed as apologized, sweeping his coat to the side as he did.

"Thank you." I couldn't understand the god. One second he wants to kill me and the next he's chivalrous and acting like a proper gentleman.

"Now that we've learned more about one another, I think we should proceed forward with our planning. How good are you at dancing?" Loki grinned like a fox.
