"What the hell got into you?" My strength was returning and I pulled myself to my feet using the wall for support.

"You, you mewling quim," he turned away from me.

"I what?"

"You got to me," he whirled around to face me, his green coat billowing around his legs.

"What did I do? I've called you much worse than a bastard-" I broke off, seeing the look of contempt in Loki's eyes.

"Your petty insults were meaningless to me before. But now, you dare to call me that, that vile thing," he could hardly spit out his words from the intensity of his anger.

I cocked my head, not understanding why that insult affected him.

He stopped his angry pacing, turning to look at me. "Do you really have no idea why I want nothing more than to rip off your wings and wring your pretty little neck while you're still screaming from the pain of losing your wings?"

I crouched slightly, preparing myself for Loki's next attack. It never came.

He returned to pacing. "Foolish woman, do you have any knowledge of my history?"

I frowned, running over all of the things my father had told me about Loki. Then it hit me. "You consider yourself to be Odin's bastard child. You're not related by blood, but he still raised you as if he was your real father."

"Silence," Loki shouted. "Do not speculate on things which you could not possibly hope to understand you mewling quim. You only know the facts."

"Then fill in the details for me. If you claim I don't know everything, then tell me. Otherwise, shut up about the whole daddy issues bullshit."

He rounded to face me and his eyes glowed that dangerous red for a second. "Watch your tone wench. I will not be talked to in such a manner. Why should I explain my situation to such a weak woman as yourself?"

"Stop calling me weak. I've beaten you enough times now to prove that I can kick your ass. Enough with all of the macho dickheadism. I only thought that you'd want to talk about your daddy issues since it seems to be a sensitive topic. If you'd rather not, then stop beating around the bush and tell me you don't want to. I don't give a damn either way, just do something." My strength was almost back to normal and I was tired of Loki's drama-queen antics.

"Fine, I'll tell you, but only because-"

"I don't care about your reasons. Just get on with your story or else I might just die of old age."

Loki growled. "Fine. You know that I grew up on Asgard. I was brought up alongside Thor; both of us prepared to be the King of Asgard. We knew that only one of us would be able to be king, but that didn't matter. I was so foolish. I thought I actually stood a chance at succeeding the throne. What I didn't know was that I wasn't from Asgard. Hel, I'm not even a true Asgardian."

"I know most of this already. I don't see what I'm missing." I interrupted.

"Will you shut up a minute and let me finish?" Loki thundered. When I remained silent, he continued. "When Thor was banished to Midgard, I learned that my true father was the Frost Giant Laufey, King of the Frost Giants. I've no idea who my mother was. Odin took me as a child from Jotunheim. He and Frigga raised me like their own son, but I always knew there was something not quite right about the way they treated me. When I found out that they weren't my real parents, it all made sense. That was why then never treated me the way they did Thor. It explained why he got all of the praise and I was forced to live beneath his mighty shadow. Once Thor was banished, I saw my opportunity. The All-Father fell into Odin's Sleep and I seized control of the throne of Asgard. Everything was going according to my plan. The Jotuns invaded Asgard. I saved the All-Father from their attack and when he awoke, he was supposed to see that I was the true heir to the throne, regardless of blood.  Then Thor managed to return to Asgard and he forced me to adapt my plans. Rather than showing Odin what I had done, I decided to please him by destroying Jotunheim once and for all. Yet my plans failed, Thor beat me to a pulp and I almost fell off the Rainbow Bridge. Odin was there and even as I told him that everything I had done was for him, he did nothing to save me. He let me fall into the black hole the Bifrost explosion created. That's how I ended up on your planet."

I couldn't help myself. I burst out laughing.
