Phil's POV

The vibration in my pocket accompanied by a low hum alerted me of an incoming call on my phone. Dan and I were lying on the couch, surrounded by blankets, watching The Lord of The Rings, cuddled up together. The sun had fallen outside, the sky an inky black, clouds blocking any chances of light from the stars of moon, like a thick blanket.

Dan was looking at me. "Aren't you going to get that?"

I nodded, digging my phone out of my pocket. "Don't pause that," I said, motioning towards the screen. I untangled myself from Dan and left the room.

"Hello?"

"Hey."

My stomach lifted at the sound of the comforting voice. "Cat?"

I could almost hear her grin on the phone. "That's the one." She laughed; a high, clear laugh.

"Hey! How are you? Sorry, I forgot to call, it's just that, well, I kinda got a bit caught up."

Her voice took on a sympathetic tone. "Yeah, your mum told me. Chemo." She went silent for a few seconds. I didn't know what to say, but thankfully, she spoke again. "How are you coping?"

"Not too bad, actually. The doctor did say that it would get worse the more shots I take, but..." I let my voice trail off. "I guess we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it."

"Yeah... My mum went through chemo. She's alright now, but it does get worse... Anyways. That's not really why I called you."

I smiled, glad to be off the topic. "Oh yeah? Why did you call me, then?"

"How did my advice go?" She asked, her voice filled with excitement. I grinned at her enthusiasm; she had even more than me.

"He took it well, actually. Really well. We're back together. I'll never be able to repay you."

She scoffed as if the very notion was ludicrous. "I don't need to be repayed, silly. It was just advice; it cost me nothing."

"Well, you at least have to meet him someday." I suggested.

"Now that is an offer I might have to take you up on." She giggled.

"Yeah. Anyways, I have to go back to him now..." I started walking back to the living room.

"Did I interrupt something?" She giggled again.

"No! We were just watching Lord of The Rings! God." I chuckled to myself.

"Ooh! I love that movie!" Her voice took on a sly tone. "I may or may not ship Sam and Frodo way too hard."

I laughed. "Who doesn't?"

Then there was silence, and a rustling sound on the other end of the line. "Sorry to cut this short, but I have to go. See ya!"

"See you, Cat." I hung up then, returning to Dan, who was still sitting on the couch, arms folded. "Sorry, that was just Cat."

"Yeah, gathered as much." He smiled, apparently not upset. "Who's Cat?"

"Well, when we were fighting I went to that park, you know the one where we got drunk?"

"I don't remember getting drunk, but yeah, I know the place." He smiled, at the memories, or lack of thereof.

"Yeah. So she was sitting on the bench and I sat down with her and we started talking, and she was really nice to me, and she gave me some advice and she told me to come and talk to you... So basically it's because of her that we're still together," I explain.ed in a rush.
