16. Runaway

Erin's POV

I got in bed and let it all out. I let the tears fall and fall until I fell asleep.

~The next morning~

I woke up and then I remembered the events of yesterday. I checked the time. 5am. I packed all my belongings into my suitcase, I got changed into black jeans, black and white slightly cropped top, black ankle boots and put on some light makeup (See my outfit at the top of the page) before getting some paper and writing a letter:

Dear Dan,

Please read this letter. I understand if you never want to talk to me again. The truth is that you're the one and I want to be with. I only kissed Caspar because I told him that I didn't have a connection with him. He was talking about it with Joe and I accidently overheard. We both felt no spark. I told Belle from the start that I liked you. You can ask her but I understand if you don't want to know. I feel like I can talk to you about anything and I find it hard to comprehend how much I've messed everything up. I just want to apologize. I'm sorry. However, I'm not sure why you were mad because I know you don't like me more than a friend because I heard you telling Phil on the way here. Anyway, I'm sorry. I decided to go home because I think it's for the best but I still had an amazing time at Playlist.

Erin

I folded the paper up and kept in in my hand as I locked my hotel door and pulled my suitcase down the corridor until I reached Dan and Phil's room. I slid the letter under the door and walked down to reception and booked myself a taxi to the airport. I waited until it came and found myself biting my nail. I got in the taxi and sat in silence until we got to the airport. I went to the sales desk and bought myself a ticket back to England. I went through security then waited in the departure lounge. I got a Starbucks to help me feel more awake. It didn't work. I got a text from Caspar.

C: Erin, where are you? I'm knocking on your door. Are you okay?x

E: Yeah I'm fine, I'm at the airport x

C: What?! Why? x

E: I'm sorry for not saying goodbye but I left early this morning. I think it was for the best, Dan won't listen to me and I don't want to ruin the rest of his holiday x

C: I wish you were still here :( but I understand. Text me when you get home? x

E: Of course. Thank you Caspar x

C: np x

'All passengers for flight 456 to Heathrow, you are now boarding at gate 27'. I sighed and got on the plane. I put my headphones on. Even the Starbuck's I had couldn't keep me awake. I woke up and checked the flight information which told me I had 1 hour of the flight left. I flicked through the films and TV shows. I saw he Dark Knight which automatically reminded me of my flight to Orlando and Dan. The guilt washed over me again and I quickly decided to listen to music instead.

'Please could all passengers be prepared for landing.'

I put all my things in my backpack for the landing. We quickly got off the plane and collected our luggage and got out of the airport. I got a taxi back to my apartment and dumped my bags before turning on my phone to a bombardment of notifications.

Text from Joe Sugg: Hi, Erin. I hope you're okay :) x

Text from Jack Harries: Hope you're okay, Belle's worried about you

4 texts and a missed call from Belle: Erin, where are you? Caspar said you've left. Call me when you get this. What's going on? xx

Text from Louise Pentland: Hope you're okay, I'm here if you need to talk xx

I rang Belle first.

B: Erin? Hi, where are you?

E: I'm back home

B: Why didn't you tell me you were leaving?

E: I didn't plan it I only decided to leave this morning and I had to leave early

B: Okay.

E: I'm sorry. How's Dan?

B: He's been really quiet as expected but wasn't surprised when I told him you'd left.

E: I wrote him a letter telling him that I was leaving.

B: Right. We're meant to be going out fr a meal so I've got to go but talk to me if you need to?

E: Of course and I'm sorry

I ended the call. I remembered that Caspar asked me to text him. 'Hi Caspar, I'm home and sorry again for not saying bye but we will catch up when you get home from Orlando? x

When I started to unpack my clothes I found an envelope with Erin written on the front. I opened it and realised it was a letter from Jade, the fan I met at my meet and greet.

To Erin,

I hope you read this. I am a huge fan of yours. When I watch one of your videos it instantly brings a smile to my face. When I want to escape from this world or forget my problems I feel like I can rely on you. I know you don't know me but I want you to know that this is the affect you have on people's lives. You affect them in a positive way. I know it can be hard to see it sometimes but you help people, you really do. So basically, if you read this I just want to say thank you. Thank you for helping me.

Jade Williams (a huge fan and supporter)

She had put her twitter name underneath so I followed her and with tears forming in my eyes (it was an emotional letter okay?) I DM'd her.

I put the letter in my desk drawer and finished unpacking my clothes when I got a call from Dan...

A/N Suspense at the end! I wonder what Dan's going to say? The next chapter will have a lot of Dan's POV so yeah. Vote and comment because it makes me happy :D xx
