Deserters

After a few months of being in charge of Fort Hammer, Alex took a week of leave to go home and visit his mother and sister. He spent the majority of time home with his sister, Jessica. They were always close, Alex took care of her when their mother was out. She was his only sibling and he loved her and his mother more than anything in the world. He was the man of the family, so it was his on to take care of them.

Jessica was forced to be a prostitute for a long time before Alex was able to start sending money home to her and his mother. As much as he hated it, Alex knew that there's was nothing he could have done before. It was the only thing that she was allowed to do for work because of her being honorless. She was finally able to stop after Alex was able to start sending money home, but some people didn't want her to stop. There was a group of four guys who used to regularly hire Jessica. They would constantly harass her in the market trying to force her to sleep with them but she would never do it. She told Alex about it but wouldn't let him go do anything about them.

The day before Alex left, he and his sister went to the market to buy groceries and other items that they would need after he left. They split up so they could get everything they needed quicker. The four guys saw Jessica and as usual started to bother her. She kept telling them to leave her alone but they wouldn't. Alex came around a corner and saw them harassing her from a distance. Alex was in uniform so he told two soldiers who guarded the town to come with him. As they got closer Alex could hear what they were saying.

Jessica yelled at them to leave her alone and tried to step away but one of them grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her into him. She smacked him and then saw Alex. She managed to get away and started running towards him. Alex and the two soldiers ran towards her and he pushed her behind him so he and the soldiers were between her and the four men. "Step aside soldiers. This doesn't concern you." the one said as he tried to push past Alex. Alex pushed him back into his friends. "You leave my sister alone from here on out or I'll have all of your assed thrown into prison." Alex told them all.

The one who appeared to be the leader laughed, stepped closer toAlex and then spit on Alex's boots. Alex struck him across the face knocking him down. The man stumbled a little getting up and felt his face where he got punched. He charged at Alex which cause his three friends to also charge at them. The two soldiers with Alex each felt with one while Alex felt with the leader of the group and one other. They landed a few good punches on Alex but for the most part he dodged their strikes and countered their moves.

Alex eventually grabbed the one man and punched him across the face before throwing him away. The leader of the group went to punch Alex but Alex stepped on the outside of his punch, grabbed the man's wrist and punched the back of his elbow so hard Alex reversed his elbow. The man Alex threw was pissed off now and pulled out a machete he had on his waist. He started to rush Alex, but Alex saw him. Alex drew his pistol he always carried on him and shot the man three times in the chest, making the man drop dead.

The two men fighting the other soldiers stopped and jumped back. They saw Alex holding the gun, their friend dead on the ground and their leader on the ground in pain from his arm. "Now all of you get the hell out of my town and for come back!" Alex yelled at the three who were still alive. The two picked up their leader and started carrying him away. "This isn't the last time you'll see us. We'll be back for you bitch!" the man screamed at Jessica. She ran up to Alex and held him tight. Alex took her home and then packed his things.

Before he left, he stopped by the military camp that guarded the town. He told their CO to make sure those bandits never came back. He went home, told his family goodbye and then headed out back to Fort Hammer.
