Alex was hanging off the wall by two chains wrapped around his wrist. He hasn't had food in two days and had been beaten severely. He was convinced he was going to be executed. He hung his head in shame. He was supposed to restore his family's honor, and he was going to die before he even had the chance.
Suddenly, the iron door that kept Alex locked in his pitch black cell swung open. The light blinded him, but when he looked up, he saw a general standing before him. The General spoke to Alex. His voice was one that struck fear into you when he spoke.
"I've heard many things about you. Honorless. Son of a deserter. But even with all that, you're still an amazing warrior. I've been told of what you did. It takes guys to kill someone twice your size. And avenging a fallen brother is a great trait of a soldier. You have great potential, and you can't demonstrate that in here."
He motioned for a guard to release him. The guard unlocked the chains around Alex's wrists and Alex fell to the ground. He stood back up and stood at attention. The General continued.
"If you ever want out of the hell hole, don't do anything stupid again. Although I said avenging a brother is a great trait, you were given a order an you disobeyed. You follow your orders until you have the right to give them. Get back to your barracks. Your training is done in a month. Don't screw up now."
With that, the general left and Alex was delivered back to his barracks. One more month and he was out of Fort Mathus. Alex wouldn't be able to handle anymore of this hell hole.
