Chapter 1:

"I'm leaving." I grabbed my car keys and checked myself in the mirror one last time.

"See you for dinner." Mom replied.

"Sure. I might be home late though. If i'm not home, save me some leftovers. I'll call you." I walked to my car.

I jammed my keys into the slot and started my car. On my way to starbucks! No. I'm not like those girls that are starbucks addicts. Sure, starbucks is good but I'm not going to go buy some. I actually work at starbucks.

*ring ring*

"Hello?" I answered using my bluetooth. I'm safe and not about that dangerous life.

"Hey! Are you on your way?" I smiled at the voice.

"Ofcourse. You?"

"Yeah."

"Listen. I'll see you at starbucks." I stopped at a redlight.

"Alright! See you."

"Buh bye."

If you're wondering who that was, that was my bestfriend, Grace. I met Grace around 2 1/2 years ago when we both just started working at starbucks. Grace was the opposite of me. She was energetic and obviously I am shy. She doesn't go to work a lot because she gets lazy but thats just the way she is. I'm kinda surprised that she isn't fired yet. But don't get me wrong, she's the barista and memorizes everything. I definetly can't remember anything for life. That's why I'm the cashier.

I arrived at starbucks and got in, running to the back. I tied my hair up in a high pony tail and tied the apron around my body which was way too big for me.

"Hey!" Grace waved at me.

"What's up." I smiled.

"Oh nothing. I didn't want to go today but I came just for you."

"Thanks." I laughed.

The door opened and few customers came in.

"Gotta get to work." She went to her spot joining the other baristas.

And here started my long day...

"Hi. Welcome to Starbucks. What can I get for you?"

+++++++++++++++++++

"Keep it up! Your shift is over in 10." Grace grabbed her bag.

Grace's shift ending 10 minutes before mine because Grace comes early and she does way more than me. All I do is tap tap and take orders. On the other hand, Grace has the important roll. She makes the drinks.

"I'll wait for you." She smiled.

Usually, Grace would leave right away to go somewhere but I guess she had free time today.

"Okay." I replied and took the last 6 orders.

++++++++++++++++++++

"Ready?" She asked whilst I grab my bag.

"Uh.. Yeah." I replied.

I walked towards my car until Grace stopped me.

"Lets go grab a bite." She looked at me.

"K." I nodded.

We drove using Grace's car and I was in the passenger seat. Blasting music, Grace was bobbing her head up and down.

I laughed.

"What?" She asked.

"You're so loud and energetic. I like that. I find it very amusing and funny."

"Right." She laughed along with me.

We drove to this burger place and took a seat at a table.

"Hi. Welcome to Burger House, What can I get for you?" The waitress came over. She was wearing her uniform and looked tall. She fixed her outfit and wrote down our order.

Ugh.

"Yeah Hi... Can I get a cheeseburger with fries?"

"Ofcourse and you?"

"Hamburger with fries please. And no tomatos." Grace replied.

"Any drinks?"

"I'll have sprite."

"I'll have a vanilla milkshake."

"Coming right up." The waitress smiled and walked away to go grab our drinks.

"What's wrong? You had an annoyed face."

"Its was when she said "Hi, welcome to Burger House. What can I get for you?" God you have no idea how annoying it is when you have to say it 1000 times per day yet, listening to someone else say it after that." I rolled my eyes.

"That's why I'm not the cashier." Grace laughed. "But its no better being a barista. There are season drinks you know. Like people! Try new flavors! Stop getting a caramel frap. Its annoying, having to make the same drinks, repeatedly."

"I guess. But all the customers depend on you! Its more of a crisis when you mess up on the drink rather than me calculating wrong." I smiled when the waiter came to our table giving us our food and milkshakes.

"Yeah right. People would be pissed if they had to pay more for their drink."

"But their drink will taste like crap if you mess it up. Then they would want their money back." I winked.

"Whatever." She rolled her eyes and frowned, losing to the argument.

"See?" I winked and we began to eat.

+++++++++++++++++++

After eatting, Grace dropped me back at starbucks since it was pretty late and my car was still parked at starbucks.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" She asked.

"Yup. Text me." I unlocked my car and got in.

"Okay." She waved and drove off.

Crap I forgot to call my mom. I quickly drove home and ran to the door unlocking it.

"MADISON JOYCE!" Mom said, as soon as I came in the door. She was standing next to the counter with her arms crossed and wore a mad face. Crap this can't be good.

"I know.. I know.. I'm sorry! I was about to call you but Grace wanted to go grab a bite and I completely forgot to call you until she dropped me off at starbucks. I was gonna call you but I fugured might as well come home and tell you." I explained.

"How dare you not call me. I was so worried..." She said but got cut off.

"Sweety, just let it go for once. Besides she's with Grace." My dad told my mom. My parents love Grace. Let's just say when I'm with her, they wouldn't worry. They trust her that much.

"Fine. But you better thank your dad. If it wasn't for him, you would've been in big trouble missy." She looked at me and smiled.

"Thanks dad!" I smiled and kissed him on the cheek. Yes, I still do that. There's nothing wrong with kissing your parents on the cheek.

"Anything for my sugar." He laughed. He knows how much I hate it when he calls me those cliche daughter nicknames. Like my little princess or sugar. It makes me sick.

"Please stop, dad." I ran upstairs to my room. I sat on my bed looking around my room and decided to get ready for bed. I was pretty tired and needed some rest.
