Tae and Jungkook lied on the bed. She was scrolling through the reel, dressed in a satin red nighty. Jungkook lay behind her, his right arm around her waist from behind, his left hand supporting his head as he watched the reels with her. The room was serene, the sound of a rotating fan filling the room, the curtains were blowing softly, the moonlight bathed the floor.
“See how beautiful this garden looks.” Tae said pointing at her screen. Jungkook hummed and said, “Yeah, but one thing is missing that makes it less beautiful.”
“What?” She turned her face slightly to see him, her brows frowned. He smiled, a faint tender one and gently pressed his lips against her nose, whispering, “You.”
She stared at him for a brief moment as if trying to fit the information in her brain. Soon, a dusty redness filled her cheeks as a shy chuckle escaped her lips. She elbowed his stomach making him squeeze backward as laughter escaped his lips. He grinned playfully.
“Such a tease you are—” Her words were cut off by a loud scream. A scream that shook their hearts, too painfully, too heart tearing.
They froze, looking into each other's eyes for a second before they rushed away, he ran downwards and she grabbed her dupatta following him. The screen before her eyes made her heart skip a beat, her palm slowly rose to her mouth covering it in shock. Her wide eyes brimmed with tears, and her fingers trembled.
There stood Jungkook, with Aurum hugging him tightly, tears flowed down her cheeks freely, her sobs came out choked. Jungkook held her wrist, her hand burned, the skin peeled out, her hand trembling like a delicate leaf and it shook her heart. Yuna stood beside crying looking at Aurum, Jungkook and Soobin were the first to control their emotions and rush forward.
Jungkook made her sit, his face twisted in worry, yet looked solemn. The faint glistening of his eyes betrayed the hurricane within him. Aurum was crying, her sobs ringing into the hall, everyone was there except for her mother. Jaehwon rushed forward, his eyes wide and filled with fear for his beloved daughter.
“Aurum! H-how did this happen, beta?!” Jaehwon asked, he rushed forward cupping her cheeks as his eyes glistened with tears. Aurum hiccupped and said in a small choked tone, “p-papa, d-dard h-horaha hai.”
"P-Papa, i-it's hurting."
Jaehwon hugged her head close to his heart. Jungkook shut his eyes tightly, he couldn't not cry, he should not. He gently detached Jaehwon and said, “Bhaiya please, let us treat her hand.”
Jaehwon nodded, he pressed his fist against his mouth, Tae stood frozen, her hands refused to move. Soobin sat beside Aurum, Jungkook carefully held her wrist, Soobin pulled out a sharp, small scissors and slowly with precision started cutting her skin. Each pull earned a painful shout from her.
“N-NO!” Aurum shouted when Soobin pulled a little hard, and yet his expressions remained solemn, professional. Jungkook bit his lips to control his emotions, Tae slowly squeezed his shoulder from behind, nodding gently, acknowledging his feelings.
He gently pulled Aurum’s face into his chest, he rocked her head softly and said, “shh… a little hmm? Calm down.”
“H-Hurting U-Uncle.” Aurum sobbed in his chest, her fist tightened on his shirt. He nodded and pulled her even closer and said, “I know, Aurum. But my little one is strong, right? She will bear the pain for a while.”
“I-its burning so much.” Aurum said slowly, her tears had soaked Jungkook's shirt. Tae bent down to her face and said, her voice soft and gentle, “Aurum, look at me.”
Aurum looked at Tae with her red swollen eyes that pierced her heart and yet she managed a small smile. She gently patted her head and said, “Is your uncle intelligent or dumb?”
