AUTHOR'S POV
"So, we'll take vows, like a real couple?" Taehyung looked up from his plate at that. He caught the way her eyes lit up before she carefully dimmed them, excitement folded neatly behind restraint.
That hesitation struck him harder than any demand ever could—and he hated it. He studied her for a beat longer than necessary, jaw set, shoulders still.
"We are a couple," he said calmly, voice firm, final. "With or without vows." She only hummed in agreement, nodded once, and returned to her food with a small, accepting smile.
She didn't argue. Didn't pout.
Didn't even push further like how Jimin told him she would for being an clueless arse to not talk about the actual marital rituals rather than just forced signature.
He snapped back at his PA saying it was his first marriage, he did not do any Ph.D in this like he did about cutting, slaughtering and disposing bodies.
In his defense, he didn't even attend any wedding parties since social events were always nag to him.
So, he didn't particularly know until his employee put on a slide in his powerpoint about bride gowns theme for next show since winter was likely to be a wedding season.
So, he did his own research about it with his PA giving him judgemental eyes. And may or may not artificial intelligence might have given him worse case scenarios that if it had to be human giving such advices, it must be dead by now.
His jaw tightened. That wasn't the reaction he expected. No protest. No quiet insistence like he assumed. No soft demand the way newly married wives usually had. Just acceptance. Too easy. Too obedient.
That was what snapped something inside him.
His eyes darkened, a sharp flicker of irritation crossing his face. Why was she agreeing so easily? Why wasn't she demanding, sulking, insisting like newly married wives were supposed to? Where was the hunger, the expectation, the claim?
He set his chopsticks down with a sharp click. Her head snapped up instantly. "We will take vows," he said, voice firm now. "Every ritual, traditional or legal, whichever you want. You deserve a proper wedding."
Her lips parted slightly, surprise blooming across her features.
"And," he added, tone edged with dry authority, "I deserve to show off my wife after carrying the bachelor title for thirty years."
"Really?" He clicked his tongue. Really? Is that all she wants to say?
"Ofcourse, I didn't marry you quietly to live like a man with nothing to prove."
She blinked, surprised at his rough tone before snorting. "Then why are your so grumpy about?" He exhaled through his nose, hand sliding up to rake through his hair, a rare tell of frustration.
"I don't know," he admitted, voice rougher now, honest in a way he allowed only with her. "Maybe because you nodded to my decisions without even single question."
He leaned forward, elbows on the table, eyes burning steady into hers. "I married you to argue with me. To demand. To want loudly," he said bluntly, french fire bleeding through his otherwise controlled Korean restraint. "Not to watch you disappear into my decisions and my habits of controlling."
