"Hello this is Robert Kirkiman, I was wondering if Hayley Parkers was there?" I hear a voice say. It take me by surprise. Why would the director of the Walking Dead be ringing ME!?!
"Who is it?" I hear Becky sing out from the living room. I am frozen, I don't know what to say.
"It's Robert" I reply to her. She makes a sound of confusions before pausing the movie and coming over.
"Hello?" I hear Robert asks. Gosh I must have taken a while to reply.
"Sorry, yep this is Hayley, may I please ask how you got this number and why you are calling?" I ask, beginning to shake with nervousness. Becky notices this and begins to worry.
"Sorry for calling so late, I was just watching your video on You tube and might I say you are quiet talented young lady" he says, causing heat to rise to my cheeks. It feels good to be complimented on my acting. Wait, why would the Robert Kirkman be ringing just to say that?
"And I have my ways" he says. I laugh and soon he does too. Becky looks even more worried. I nod to her, letting her know there is no need to worry, even though she has no idea who I am talking to.
"So, is that it?" I ask politely.
"No, we are about to begin shooting season 5 and we need a girl character, we were wondering if you would like the part?" he asks. I feel my jaw drop in shock. Wow.
"Uh, well, yes I would, could you ring back tomorrow and discuss it then, as you can tell it is quite late and my brain is not really functioning properly right now" I say, trying to ramble on.
"Yep that is totally fine, I'll call back tomorrow, do you have parents or an legal guardian I could talk to tomorrow?" he asks. I nod but then realise he can't see me.
"Yes I do, My mum, I'll let her know before you ring, and, thank you so much" I say really greatful. Wow. I can't believe it.
"Will do and no worries, in fact we would be lucky to have you, bye" he says before hanging up. I slowly put the phone down then begin to jump up and down. Becky gives me a funny look and decides to join in anyway. Gosh I love it when she does that.
"So what is going on?" she asks once we finished jumping up and down. We make our way back to the living room and sit down under the blanket. I look over to her and can't help but to smile widely.
"I may or may not have just got given a part on the Walking Dead" I say. I see her face light up and her jaw drop.
"Get out" she says nudging my shoulder playfully. I look at her and shake my head.
"It's true, Robert Kirkman wishes to speak to my mother tomorrow and discuss it" I tell her happily. She smiles and squeals.
"YAY!, My besties is going to be on the best TV show series ever!" she says happily, I join and we continues this for a half an hour. We finish watch the movie and clean up. We turn all the lights off down stairs and make our way to my bedroom. I close the door behind us and have a look at the clock, 2:53am. I sigh and walk over to my bed. Becky walks over to the other side and we both hop in, an advantage in having a double bed. We both crawl in and turn the side table lights off, we talk for another 15 minutes before we both drift off to sleep. Me dreaming about The Walking Dead, the cast and what it would be
like to act on the show.
#Next Morning#
"What in the name of unicorns!" I exclaim when I see Becky laying on the ground in a very weird position. I guess you can see we are kind of weird too. She mumbles something then looks up at me.
"This is surprisingly comfortable" she says. I can't help but to laugh. Wow.
"Hungry?" I ask her, slowly rising from the bed and making my way over to the closed bedroom door.
"Am I ever!" she says, beating me to the door and opening it up. She glances back at me and smirks, ohh it's on.
"Ready" she says.
"Set" I reply.
"Go" we say in unison. We race off and down the stairs. I try tripping her but fail. She laughs then beats me to the kitchen. Damn it.
"Bummer" I say aloud, trying to catch my breath. Okay I am not very fit. I do dance but that really has nothing to do with my cardio.
"Hey, at least you didn't horizontally run down, that would have been....interesting" Becky says, pretending to stroke her fake beard. I smack her arm playfully at her Pitch Perfect reference and walk over to the fridge. I open it and get out the eggs, bacon and bread.
"How does bacon and eggs on toast sound?" I ask her. I watch as her face lights up and she nods. She walks over and starts to help me cook breakfast.
"Smells good" I hear my mum say from upstairs. Becky and I laugh before continuing cooking.
"Would you like some?" I ask her. I wait for a response.
"Yes Hayes" she says using my nick name. She is in a good mood this morning; I'll cook her breakfast then pass on the good news. Becky nudges my shoulder to realise the bacon and eggs are finished cooking. I butter all the toast and start to divide the food up onto 3 different plates. This is what I probably did not tell you guys, It's only mum and I living together. My father was never really a father to me, as soon as I was born he took off leaving mum to raise me by herself.
"Come down and get it" I yell out to the top of the stairs. I see her round the corner and walk down the stairs. She comes into the kitchen and sits on one of the stools.
"Good morning" Becky says to her, pouring her a glass of juice.
"That's nice of you Becky, thank you" my mum says to her. She smiles and nods before pouring her and I a glass too.
"It's alright" she says.
"What are you girls going to do today?" Mum asks me before we hear the phone ring. Tell her now or never.
"Mum can you please answer the phone, and just to let you know, it is going to be Robert Kirkman from The Walking Dead" I say to her as she hops up and walks over to the phone. She gives me a confused look before picking up the phone. Becky walks over to me and holds my arm with nervousness. She can probably sense I am very nervous too.
"That sounds amazing" we hear mum say, Phew. Becky looks over to me and smiles and nods. She lets go and walks into the living room. She plugs in my laptop to the television and starts surfing the web. I leave mum to talk on the phone and join her in the living room. I look onto the screen and see her researching the Walking Dead. Gosh.
"Wow" I say aloud to her to get her attention.
"We need to know what you are going to be dealing with" she says.
"Hey, we don't even know if I have the part yet, it has just been offered to me, that's it, they would probably still want me to audition" I say to her, trying not to get excited by the possibility of acting on my favourite show.
"Oh come on, you are practically the part" she says trying to lighten my spirits up a bit.
"I'll let her know" I hear mum say. She hangs up the phone and walks into the living room. Becky and I stand and walk over to her, seeing what she has to say.
"Well, looks like this afternoon you will be going in to audition" mum says earning a squeal to escape Becky's mouth. She is so enthusiastic about everything which I am grateful for.
"This afternoon?" I ask in disbelief and shook. Wow this is really soon. They must start filming within the week or something.
"Yep, now go you have 5 hours till we need to leave" she
says before walking upstairs. I stare off after her still in shock.
"This is amazing stuff" Becky says, pinching me arm.
"Ouch" I say to her, playfully scolding her. She smirks and walks back over to the laptop.
"Now, what do you want to do until you get ready?" she asks me.
