As I rested on God's good ground

I heard mother nature's gift

It was a beautiful sound.

How the wind blows in the trees

Such a soothing a sound

It was like a voice to me.

Oaks a hundred years old

Telling stories of lives

From so long ago.

These words, anyone can hear

You just have to be willing,

Listen with your heart and all will be clear.

The blue sky

Has many tales untold

And the blank clouds

Hold  myths of old.

They speak of a time

The world was at peace

And no hunger or anger

Was spoken of nor did we teach.

War and the prospects of it weighed heavily on Nichole's mind, especially during boot camp. Irregardless of possible circumstances she had made a commitment and honored it with all she had.

Several Air Force representatives attended Nichole's funeral. They were from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where she was assigned. I was not expecting them to attend her services. They were so dignified and had such nice things to say about Nichole. When they removed the American flag from her coffin, they performed the ceremonial folding of the flag. As they handed me her flag, taps was played by an Air Force bugler. The Air Force members stood at attention and saluted Nichole's coffin as taps resonated through the church. It was beautiful, dignified and haunting all at the same time. I had no idea any of this was going to happen and I almost fainted when taps started.

If you are still enjoying Nichole's journey, I humbly ask you to vote.
