"Before we go any further, should we bring up the topic of Nightwing?" Vixen asked her old friend.
"I talked to him before the meeting and he said that while he appreciates the offer, he wants to stick with the Titans and Thunder and Dove both agree with him." Batman said.
"And just when Anissa was starting to show she was ready. But I'm glad that she and Nightwing worked things out." Black Lightning said.
"Agreed, but moving on. The next candidate up for a vote is Major Marvel, nominated by Superman. And I can't help but get the feeling that the only reason he did it is because she's his sister-in-law." Supergirl said to her cousin.
"No. Major Marvel has all the same powers as Captain Marvel, except she's an adult with actual military training. That means she has combat training, tactical advantages." Superman said.
"But she lacks experience. Say what you want about Captain Marvel, he's a battle tested hero who's earned the public's trust and been active for years. Major Marvel is still learning how to use her powers. I'm not sure she's ready to join the League yet." Batman said.
"She can learn at our side. She's ready." Superman said.
"Maybe you feel that way, but does she? She's made some impressive strides, but I'm not sure if I get the vibe from her that she's ready to handle the weight of being a member of the Justice League." Wonder Woman said.
"Still, we don't need to dismiss her off the bat." Black Canary said.
"No one is dismissing her, but we have to be serious about the people we recruit. Make sure that it's something that they want, since if it isn't and they decide to reject our offer, there's a good chance they won't get in again.
"Next up, Citizen Steel, nominated by Wonder Woman, based in Washington DC, works with Wonder Woman's team. Powers include super strength and turning his skin to steel, allowing for limited invulnerability." Supergirl said as the image changed from Major Marvel to Citizen Steel.
"He's been working with me since shortly after we formed the Justice League and like Black Canary, he is a JSA legacy, grandson of JSA member Commander Steel. He's done good work and he grew up idolizing us heroes." Wonder Woman said.
"He has proven himself to be a team player." Green Lantern said.
"But he could also be considered too much of a showboat. I've seen the reports, a lot of his heroics are more showboating for the press. We can't have members who care more about their reputation or public reception over the League's general mission." Batman said.
"I get the same vibe from him. Not to mention he seems to want to make things more complicated than they need to be." Green Arrow added.
"He feels a lot of pressure to live up to his family's legacy, since due to the hemophilia he had before he got his powers, he wasn't able to follow in his family's military legacy. But his knowledge as a historian could come in handy." Wonder Woman said.
"Next up. Vibe from Central City. Nominated by the Flash and seconded by Ice Maiden." Supergirl said as she projected an image of Vibe.
"In addition to his powers, it's also adding another genius level intellect to our ranks, since the League can't be all brute strength, we need brainpower too." Flash said.
"Agreed. And he can't be as big a nerd as Superman over here, considering the ridiculous names he's given his powers and even the event when we blow out our powers." Supergirl said, teasing her cousin a bit.
"Not to mention with the way his powers are growing, he has the potential to be one of the most powerful metas on the planet. He can open portals anywhere on the planet, not to mention to other dimensions and he might even be able to travel to other planets in this universe and maybe even through time. I think it would be best if the League could keep an eye on him and help him realize his potential." Ice Maiden said.
"I'm not sure Dreamer is the best candidate at this time, since from what you've described, while she's improved to a degree, she still doesn't have full control over her powers and can't correctly interpret her dream visions. That makes her a liability in the field." Batman said as they discussed whether or not to let Dreamer sit with them.
"She may still have a lot to learn, but she has potential." Supergirl defended her nomination.
"I'm not saying she doesn't, I'm just saying that now might not be the best time for her to join us." Batman said.
"He's not wrong." Green Lantern said to her sister.
The League had a quick discussion about Steel and now they were discussing Captain Atom.
"We can always use more raw power and if the Trickster crisis taught us anything, it's that we could use someone who can neutralize a nuclear blast safely." Flash said.
"He's not wrong. Not to mention he has military training, cool under pressure, he's seen combat before and he's from Central City, so he's no stranger to weird." Superman said.
"Not to mention there's also his girlfriend, Liberty Belle." Green Lantern said as he changed the image to Liberty Belle.
"We can always use another speedster, since she's had her powers even longer than Captain Atom has had his." Flash said.
"But she gave herself powers so she could get revenge on the man who murdered her father." Batman countered.
"How is that any different than you putting on that symbol to get vengeance for your parents' murder?" Flash countered and several people, including Superman and Wonder Woman had to stop themselves from chuckling at Batman being outmaneuvered.
"Fair enough." Batman admitted, since that was a fair point as they continued to discuss it.
The League continued to discuss the remaining recruits. Zatanna was pushed for immensely since she was a highly accomplished magic user and since several of the threats the league protected the world from were magical, it couldn't hurt to have another magic user on it.
The Atom got some traction too due to the tactical advantages of his size altering abilities, not to mention his genius level intellect. Riptide was also considered due to his proficiency with Atlantean magic and his combat skills and Huntress was also heavily considered due to her experience and skillset. Even Red Arrow was given serious consideration before at long last, the time had come.
"We can discuss this all we want, but at the end of the day, there's really only one thing that truly matters. Who among these candidates do we trust?" Supergirl asked as they all looked at each other.
"It's time to vote." she then said as images of all the nominees were projected and all members of the league placed their votes.
After the process was done, they reviewed the results.
"All in favor of validating the results and sending word to the ones who were selected?" Supergirl asked and the motion was unanimous.
"Then the decisions have been made. We'll announce it at the ceremony on New Year's Eve to make it official. Until then, these results do not leave the room beyond informing those who've been chosen. This meeting is adjourned." Supergirl said as she ratified the results before concluding the meeting.
And that ends this arc. The results of the vote will be revealed in the next chapter of Justice League Inductions, which I plan on posting tomorrow as my last post of 2025. Feel free to guess who made the cut, but remember, just because I gave certain heroes a discussion "on screen", that doesn't mean that they got in or that others did not.
