If I, the creature, craved a gentle hand,
And you, my heart, held a spark of grace,
Could shared despair within this haunted land
Find solace in a less tormented space.
No gentle love did bind your fearful gaze,
But duty's chain held you against my plea,
We walked divergent, solitary ways,
A tragic pair for all the world to see.
Though natures fault brought forth my wretched form,
A human heart still longed for your embrace,
To weather with you life's relentless storm,
And find within your eyes a resting place.
But fate denied the peace we could not win,
And left but ruin where our lives had been.
