(This is gonna be a long chapter just thought I give you a heads-up)
Bradley
I opened the car door and stepped out, feeling the weight of the moment.
"Where are you going?" Kinsley called after me.
"I'll be back," I said, shutting the door behind me with a soft thud.
I walked up to the guards, holding my hands up in surrender, making sure they knew I wasn't a threat.
"Who are you? And state your business here." The voice was sharp, and demanding, I could feel the tension rising.
My name is Bradley Jay King. I'm the Alpha of the Starlight Pack. I'm here because I might have your long-lost princess."
His eyes scanned my face, searching for any sign of a lie.
"How do I know you're not just bringing some random girl?" he demanded, his voice cold.
"Because I'm putting my mate and myself at risk just to prove it to you," I shot back, my tone unwavering. "And I know it's true."
"How could you be so sure?" He stepped closer, his eyes narrowing.
"I was there when she first shifted," I said, voice low but resolute. "She's a cream-colored wolf with black paws and black-tipped ears. I saw the gold crescent moon with a crown above it behind her right ear."
The guard stiffened, but still, he pressed on. "How did you get the princess?"
"From her other parents," I answered, my gaze never wavering.
"And where are they now?"
I let out a breath, frustration bubbling up. "I don't know. The day after she shifted, I went to their house to ask about the royal markings, but they were gone."
He didn't look convinced. "How did you even know where the castle was? No one knows that."
I stared him down, feeling the weight of my words. "My beta and I searched the house after they disappeared. We found a blueprint of the castle, with red markings all over it. It had an address. Everything."
He didn't say anything for a moment, just processed what I said. Then, he asked, "Why did it take you so long to bring the princess back?"
"Because she was captured by Richard Thomas," I said through gritted teeth, anger flaring. "And I had to kill him to get her back."
"WEAPONS DOWN!"
I let out a sigh of relief. At least I knew I wasn't about to get shot.
"Listen to me, Alpha King," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "If this is some kind of conspiracy to get the Queen and King's hopes up about their long-lost daughter, and it turns out not to be her... I'll kill you both for wasting my time."
I nodded, keeping my voice steady. "I understand, sir."
He shot me a hard look before turning to his men. "I'll alert the Queen and King, but I'm riding with you."
"Yes, sir," I said quickly. "But if you could, please... don't mention that we're here at the castle to my mate."
He raised an eyebrow. "Why not?"
"I want it to be a surprise," I explained, my tone firm. "She doesn't know we're here."
He considered that for a moment, then grunted. "Very well. I will accept your wishes." He turned to the gatekeeper. "OPEN THE GATE!"
