I woke up to Kinsley's soft, light snoring, and I couldn't help but smile. She looked so peaceful, so effortlessly cute, even in her sleep. Her hair was a mess, spread out across the pillow, and her face was relaxed in a way that made her even more irresistible. I carefully eased out of bed, making sure not to disturb her, and tiptoed to the bathroom to take a hot shower. The steam from the water helped clear my head, giving me a moment to appreciate the quiet of the morning.

Afterward, I grabbed a towel and dried off as I got dressed. I slipped into my light blue jeans, a black polo shirt, and my black Vans—something simple but comfortable. Before I left, I leaned down and kissed Kinsley on the forehead. She let out a small sigh, still lost in her dreams. I smiled and quietly, walked out of the room, not wanting to wake her.

I wasn't even in my office for five seconds when another problem was brought to my attention.

'Alpha come quick we got a problem!' James said through mind-link.

'What is it now?'

'Come to the border we have a serious issue!'

'On my way.'

When I got to the border two bloody humans were lying on the ground, their lifeless bodies sprawled out in a way that sent a chill down my spine. But what made it worse was the note—written in blood, next to them.

'Alpha King

We're coming for you.'

"What do we do alpha?"

I punched the tree with all the frustration and anger building inside me. The impact was so strong that the tree toppled, crashing into another with a loud crack. I didn't even flinch at the sound it wasn't enough to shake the rage coursing through my veins.

I stormed in front of the head warrior, my fists clenched at my sides. "Who the hell was on guard last night?" I growled, my voice low but filled with authority.

His mouth gaped open for a moment before he snapped it shut, clearly struggling to find the right words.

"I don't know," he said.

My chest began heaving as more rage built inside of me.

"You don't know?-" I questioned. "You better get me some fucking answers before you pay for this. Matter of fact if you all were doing your fucking job the person who did this would have been caught!" I said directing my anger to the pack of warriors standing a few feet away from me.

"Don't let this happen again," I commanded.

"Yes, Alpha." They yelled.

"Clean this mess up!" I said turning around and leaving.

"Yes, alpha."

The twenty-minute walk back to my office helped calm me down a lot, and when I got upstairs, the first thing I did was check on Kinsley. She was still snoring softly in her sleep, safe and sound. I signed in relief and sat down in my office, zoning out for a few minutes before the pile of paperwork on my desk yanked me back to reality. I opened the top drawer and grabbed my glasses, slipping them on as I dove into the files. After an hour and a half, a sharp pressure suddenly pressed against the back of my neck causing to me wince and I was confused by the sudden sensation. Then It hit me... Kinsely.

I rushed to my room, expecting to find her there, but the bed was empty. My gut twisted as I noticed a note on the bed, folded neatly. I grabbed it quickly opening it.
