Chapter 23

The next day
I was doing the laundry because Mey-rin fell from the stairs like usual while carrying a load of laundries and I ended up helping her, seriously she's so clumsy but I can't feel angry at her, so I did the laundry and she cleaned the stairs, it was tiring but I feel happy that I get to work here and meet new people like Ciel and Sebastian.

In the meantime....in Ciel's studies,
"Young master, there's a letter from the Queen." Sebastian said to Ciel while handing the letter from the queen, then Ciel opens the letter and he reads it, after he finish he set it down,
"It would seem that there is a new case Sebastian. There had been some murders going on around town, and it would seem that the murders involved something called hara kiri she said it's a culture from Japan, so I need you to call Haruka for more information About this murders."
"Yes my lord." Sebastian said and he goes to call Haruka. After a few moments Haruka enters the study,
"What is it you would like to ask, young master?" She asked,
"Do you know what hara kiri means?"
"Yes it is a way for disgraced samurai to regain their honor by passing to death, and the way to do that is by cutting open their own stomach." Haruka described the meaning of hara kiri,
"I see well then, we need more information, Sebastian prepare we're going to town." Ciel said as he stands up, "Right away, young master." Then Sebastian left the room, with Ciel and Haruka still in the room,
"Honestly I cannot understand you're country's culture, how would someone regain their honor by cutting open their stomach?" Ciel said while looking out the window,
"Well, Seppuku was used either voluntarily by samurai to die than fall into the hands of their enemies and likely suffer torture or as a form of capital punishment for a samurai who had committed serious offenses, or performed because they had brought shame to themselves. I have not yet seen one, they say that it is a way to die a honorable death rather than having a disgraceful death." Haruka explained to him,
"I see so they would rather in their own hands rather than being killed by their enemies, and they cannot live with the shame or crime they have, so they would rather die than living their shame and guilt. Then what about you Haruka, do you feel burdened by the shame that had come upon your family? Do you ever thought about committing hara kiri?" Ciel asked as his gaze pierce to her soul,
"No I have never thought of it even once, because I have a promise to keep, 'Then please live for me, for your father. Please live for me, Do you promise me?'
'Please live for me Haruka, protect your loved ones.' The image of her mother and Mr. Yorito flashed in her mind, I would never break my promise, I will never commit hara kiri because of the promise I made with my mother and Mr. Yorito." She said with a nostalgic look on her face,
"I see then I want you to promise me something." Ciel said as he went over to Haruka,
" Promise me you will stay by my side and never leave me, you will not die on my watch, you will follow my orders if it is for your own good, because you are my maid and...big sister." He said the last one a bit soft, Haruka was shocked, then she kneels down and put her hand to her heart, "Yes my lord" then she gets up and pulls her pinky,
"What?" Ciel asked, " Come on, let's pinky promise." She said with a smile,
"T-that's kids stuff." Ciel said embarrassed, "Come on already, my finger is getting tired." Haruka said pouting,
"Fine...." Ciel said wrapping his finger with Haruka's, then they both smiled at each other.

Time skip
Your's POV;
We were already heading for the town, Ciel said we were going to meet someone,when I asked he said 'you'll see.', just who are we going to meet anyway, after a few hours, the carriage stops in front of a store that has a sign that says,
"Undertaker." I said as I look at the sign, then Sebastian opens the door for us and we went inside, the room is dark with only a few candles as light, there are coffins everywhere, and I don't want to find out what's inside,
"Undertaker are you here?" Ciel called out but there was no respons, maybe the owner is away, then suddenly one of the coffins opened itself, I jumped back and hide myself behind Sebastian, then a grey haired man appears from the coffin giggling like some crazy person, his nails are black and long, and is wearing a simple black robe, and has a scar on his face, his eyes are hid behind his long bangs,
"Ohhh so you have come young lord, I have been waiting for you, you want information about the recent murders right?" The man asked, his weird,
"Oh and I see you have a new friend, hello there my dear what is your name?" He asked as he went closer to me,
"H-Haruka Yukimura, it's nice to meet you, sir." I said and bow,
"My my what a polite little girl, and I am the Undertaker, it is good to meet you." He said while giggling,
"I thought about who are we meeting, so it turns out to be you Undertaker, I was dying to meet you." I said teasingly, then he begins to laugh hard, banging his hand on the table,
"O-oh my dear that is quite splendid, well then since this pretty girl has given me a gift, I will answer your question, young Earl." He said to Ciel,
"All right back to business, can you tell us about the bodies of the victims?" Ciel asked,
"Hmmm yes their stomach had a cute little hole on it it had a left-to-right cut" The Undertaker said,
"So it is true it's just like hara kiri." I said, "Oh so you know about that ritual, my dear." The undertaker said to me,
"Yes, in fact I came from Japan, I have never witness one before."
"Well we have all the information we needed, let's go." Ciel said, then Sebastian and I went outside first, but Ciel was still inside the shop with Undertaker, then Ciel walks out, and into the carriage, then he tells Sebastian to gather some informations, and so the only two of us are in the carriage, and Ciel was looking in the distance.
Ciel's POV;
I thought about what undertaker said to me before we left the shop,
"How is 'life' as a Demon, young lord?" Undertaker asked me,
"Nothing different, why do you asked?" I said to him annoyed,
"Does she know, about you and your butler?"
That's right I haven't told her yet, but what will she do if she found out about us? Will she hate us and leave us? I don't wanna know, I don't want her to leave, then I felt a hand on my cheek, it was Haruka she had a worried expression,
"Ciel are you alright, are you sick? You look unwell." She asked me with worried,
"No, no it's nothing I am just feeling restless that's all." I said to hide my worries,
"Well it's not like you to feel restless about something. As long as Sebastian and I am here you don't have to worry about anything, Okay?" She said with a reassuring smile, and she stroke my head, it made me feel calm and sleepy,
I don't want her to leave, please don't leave me. I thought that as I drift off to sleep.

Your's POV;
I look at the sleeping Ciel on my lap, then I stroke his head and he smiled in his sleep, he looked exactly like a little brother, he is still so young but he carries a heavy burden, I want to help him, I want to protect him, that is what I want, then I slowly began to feel sleepy, and so I too fell asleep.

Sebastian's POV;
As soon as I finished gathering information, I head back toward my young master and Haruka, when I got to the carriage, I see my young master sleeping on Haruka's lap and Haruka is also sleeping peacefully, then the young master wakes up and realize my presence,
"My my you have become quite close with Haruka, young master." I said teasing him,
"Shut up....., Sebastian what do you think she would do, when she finds out about us? Will she hate and leave us?" The young master asked a slight sadness in his eyes, I have not even thought about it, and when I think about it it makes me sad, If she would leave the young master and I. I have truly fallen in love with her, I cannot imagine a life without her,
"I myself have no answer to that young master." I said a bit sad,
"Then it is settled, we will tell her after this case is done." The young master said, "But are you certain young master?" I asked him,
"The sooner she knows the better. Now let's go." He said and I climbed into the carriage and told the coachman where to go, along the ride I keep staring at Haruka, wondering what she would do if she finds out that, the young master and I are both...demons.
